Our safari experience was absolutely extraordinary, and a huge part of that is thanks to our guide, Río. From the very first moment, he demonstrated exceptional professionalism, commitment, and dedication.
Because of his expertise and knowledge, we had the incredible opportunity to see Africa’s "Big Five"—fulfilling one of our greatest dreams for this trip.
But what truly made the difference was his character. Río was always attentive to our comfort, safety, and needs; he took care of every detail and ensured that we enjoyed every single moment to the fullest.

Amazing safari experience
We’ve just come back from a wonderful 9 days in Kenya. Diana was incredibly helpful through the organisation phase, not only planning us a fantastic 5 day safari covering 3 different Kenyan parks but also organising a Mt Kenya Hike for us beforehand and joining the two phases of holiday up seamlessly with the different guides.
Our guide for the safari was Derrick, who had exceptional knowledge about the local areas and all of the wildlife, and whom we really enjoyed sharing the experience with thanks to his great company, humour and insights.
All in all we had an absolutely fantastic trip and can’t recommend Shanjoy highly enough! Thank you!

An unforgettable Maasai Mara safari with an exceptional guide, Rio!
We had a fantastic experience exploring the Maasai Mara with Shanjoy Tours and Safaris. Our guide, Rio, was incredibly knowledgeable about the wildlife, always happy to answer our questions and share interesting insights. We saw an amazing variety of animals, including lions, elephants, giraffes and even a leopard, which was a real highlight!
The safari was well organised from start to finish, and Rio was friendly, professional and great company throughout. His wildlife knowledge and multilingual abilities were particularly impressive. Would highly recommend Shanjoy Tours and Safaris!

Big Five on day two, a Mara balloon ride, a surprise upgrade and two fantastic guides
From our first enquiry, Shanjoy’s communication was excellent. Rodah and Beth responded almost instantly, answered every question and accommodated all of my suggestions. My wife and I customized both the itinerary and the accommodations, and they happily reworked the plan to suit us, swapping a long drive for a lake day with a boat trip at Naivasha. They also sent clear visa, insurance and border guidance well before we left, and Beth and the team kept checking in on us throughout the trip to make sure everything was going well. The Kenya to Tanzania handover at the Isibania border was smooth. My wife and I cleared customs, switched vehicles and met our new guide with no hassle.
We booked in early May for a mid-June trip, which was fairly last minute for peak season. One of the lodges didn’t honor our reservation, but Shanjoy handled it well. They kept us informed and offered a lodge in the same or a better category. In the Masai Mara they went further and upgraded my wife and me to Mara Plains Camp, with a better room and a tent right next to the river with a fantastic view. It was one of our favorites of the whole trip.
The wildlife was incredible. My wife and I saw the Big Five on our second day, and we had an unforgettable hot-air balloon safari followed by champagne and a bush breakfast.
One of the biggest highlights was our guide in Kenya, Steve. His knowledge, dedication and genuine passion for wildlife made an enormous difference. Spotting animals on safari is one thing, but having a guide who knows where to find them and goes the extra mile to get you the best possible view is something special. Thanks to him, my wife and I saw rhinos multiple times, and his dedication to finding the animals you want to see is amazing. We usually started our game drives early in the morning, with lunch packed by the lodge, and stayed in the park until sunset. My only regret is that we didn’t spend more time enjoying the beautiful lodges and camps, so if you can, plan a little downtime.
Hasan, our guide in Tanzania, was just as good. He knew the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater very well, brought plenty of energy, and listened closely to what we wanted to see. When my wife and I wanted to see the migration, he worked out where the herds were and drove us there, even though it was about three hours away. That kind of effort is what made the experience unforgettable.
Thank you to the entire Shanjoy team, and especially Steve and Hasan, for an incredible experience! My wife and I came away with amazing memories, wonderful photographs and a greater appreciation for the beauty of Africa. This safari exceeded our expectations, and we would absolutely recommend it!

Patrick was a superb safari guide from start to finish. He was knowledgeable, friendly and incredibly patient. He waited quietly for the perfect sighting and never rushed us, even when we wanted to linger for photos. His sharp eyes and experience meant we saw everything we'd hoped for. Along the way he gave fascinating context on the animals' behaviour, the ecosystem and conservation. It made the experience far richer than anything we could have managed on our own.
We saw the Big Five and the Ugly Five and many more we did not know existed. He was happier than us when we had a sighting and more despondent than us when we missed a sighting!! God bless him and his family .

A super five-star safari, planned end to end
We just returned from an epic safari in Kenya, and Rodah, Kim and Rio from Shanjoy made it one of the most memorable trips we've ever taken.
From the start, they designed a customized itinerary around our needs and fit it to our target budget. They put real time and effort into getting every detail right and stayed in constant communication before, during, and even as we were departing Nairobi to come back home. Their recommendations and guidance gave us complete confidence that everything was handled, so we never had to worry. They covered the trip end to end, including excellent recommendations for all five of our accommodations and their pick of top guides.
Kim, our guide, was extraordinary. He shared a tremendous amount of insight about Kenya's culture, people, and customs, and gave us a deep understanding of every animal we saw. His knowledge of birds was five-star-plus. He is also a superb driver, and on long highway stretches of up to five hours, he kept us safe and always got us there on time. He also positioned us perfectly for photos, with animals in the foreground against sunsets and mountains.
Rio, our guide in the Mara, knows the terrain incredibly well, has deep knowledge and answered all our questions. Even with the crowds, he placed us where we could watch animals behaving naturally in their habitat.
We give this trip a super five stars and highly recommend Rodah, Kim, and Rio. Thank you also to everyone behind the scenes at Shanjoy. We are talking about this trip to all our friends and family and count it among our fondest memories.

Amazing and Seamless Experience Thanks to the Shanjoy Team!
Months before our trip, I reached out to a few well reviewed companies from this website. I heard from Beth at Shanjoy Tours right away and she was 100% invested in our satisfaction from the start. I had next to no idea what we should do, where we should stay, our transportation options, etc. She helped untangle all my ideas and weave a perfect itinerary to maximize our time in Kenya. She recommended some amazing lodges and activities. They booked and coordinated everything behind the scenes. I was promptly sent tickets and confirmations, and it was so easy to pay online. I was never worried we might be stranded, we were always alerted about our transportation, driver and pickup times ahead of time. I always had several people’s contact information and felt welcome to call/text them at any hour if we had any concerns or hiccups. They really prioritize their guest’s wellbeing, enjoyment and safety. They wanted to hear about our reviews of each of our hotels and activities, they appreciated honest feedback and took any concerns seriously. They especially prioritized safety! While on safari in Masai Mara, our guide Dereck was so knowledgeable, flexible and safe. He cleaned to car inside and out every day, performed needed maintenance, respected the park road rules and drove carefully. He not only knew everything about the animals but he really respected them! While other tours were getting way to close to some of the animals, he honored their space, boundaries, their safety and our safety. He was always attentive to when we might need a break, water, how to get the best photos etc, and he always had a plan ready for our next adventure. He plotted out the animal’s locations ahead of time so we were maximizing our days. We saw every animal possible, most more than once. We were so blessed with a smooth and fulfilling experience, thanks to Shanjoy. A once in a lifetime experience but I would trust them with a million more trips like this. Truly the best compared to other companies I talked to or that I have booked with in other countries. Unforgettable Honeymoon Experience!

She helped us create a crazy itinerary going to five different parks and reserves within both Kenya and Tanzania. Our guides Rio (Kenya) and Mustafa (Tanzania) were both fantastic. Rio driving incredible distances, and still managing to organise time for us to do game drives as our preference, as well as teaching us about local culture and understanding where we were a lot better. Mustafa was just unbelievable at spotting game and describing nature and habits, really making the wildlife experience top notch. Thank you to both these funny and great guides who made our trip what it was.

Shanjoy was attentive, authentic, and responsive, making our once in a lifetime safari the best!
Shanjoy tours has made it easy to plan a once in a lifetime safari trip. From the start, Rodah was extremely helpful in answering our questions (there were a lot!) and giving her guidance and opinions for our itinerary. She was very attentive and listened to our preferences, and helped us build our itinerary that matched everything we wanted (and then some). We even requested to add things to our plan as late as 2 days before our trip and Rodah quickly updated our itinerary.
Our tour guides Steve and Dominic were excellent and very knowledgeable, giving us information on each species, with facts big and small that made it even more fun to spot animals we have not seen yet. They were quick to respond to sightings, and made sure to give us the best position for viewing and pictures. We were lucky to see the big five within our first 2 days of safari in Maasai Mara thanks to Steve and his impressive abilities to find Rhinos (he sure is dedicated!). Both Steve and Dominic incorporated our input and requests for what animals we would like to see (when possible) and tried their hardest to make sure we saw the animals we wanted to see. We also had Sam, the photographer, with us for our safari and he was amazing. He took portraits of us with the animals in the background, at sunset, took great pictures of the animals, and made sure all of our requests were met.
The transfers from park to park were seamless, and Rodah, Steve, and Dominic handle all the behind the scenes work at the airstrips making the process as easy as possible.
At our first stop in Nairobi, we went a little over board with souvenirs, and Rodah happily kept our souvenirs at the offices, and we collected them as we departed Kenya. Overall, Shanjoy made sure that we were happy from our first correspondence to the time we boarded our plane. We felt like we were their top priority, and that is what makes them stand out from their competitors. I would not hesitate to recommend Shanjoy, and I cannot wait to return for another safari with them!

Very well organised, great choices of accommodations, friendly drivers.
We booked a safari via Shanjoy tours, a group of 11 people, and we were all delighted with our choice of operator. Everything went smoothly, very efficient company not only on the admin side, but also great and friendly drivers doing everything possible to get us to see as many animals as we could. The accommodations booked throughout our 8 night sleepovers exceeded our expectations, with 2 nights in bush camps in northern and central Serengeti National Park. We all had a wonderful time and we all recommend Shanjoy tours & Safaris.
