Amazing journey
5/5

I would like to share my experience while everything is still fresh in my mind.

Before booking, I compared offers from several safari companies, and this one immediately stood out. Communication was always fast, professional, and every one of my requests and preferences was taken into account.

From the very beginning, our only goal in visiting Rwanda and Uganda was to see mountain gorillas. Dav Safaris offered us the perfect itinerary, including visits to two national parks and two separate gorilla trekking experiences—one in each country. Yes, it was expensive, but after completing the trip I can honestly say that it was worth every single cent.

Our safari began in Kigali, where we were met by our driver and guide, Isaac. We have traveled extensively across Africa and have been on many safaris, so we have plenty to compare with. Without any exaggeration, Isaac is one of the best guides we have ever had. He is not only an outstanding professional but also a genuinely kind and caring person.

Throughout the journey, Isaac looked after every detail. He constantly made sure we were comfortable, checked that our accommodations met expectations, surprised us with delicious local fruits, and took care of countless little things that made the trip truly special. His attention to detail and genuine care made us feel welcome every single day.

Thanks to his many years of experience, Isaac knows almost everyone in the parks—from rangers to trackers. Because of his excellent relationships and deep knowledge, he managed to arrange the best possible gorilla trekking groups for us. We realized just how valuable this was when we later compared our photos and videos with those of other visitors. Our encounters with the gorillas were simply incredible, and I am convinced that Isaac played a huge role in making that happen.

Of course, the true stars of this journey were the magnificent mountain gorillas. They were the main reason we traveled to Africa this time, and they exceeded every expectation.

Experiencing gorilla trekking in both Rwanda and Uganda was absolutely the right decision because the experiences are surprisingly different.

In Rwanda, everything is exceptionally well organized and highly structured. The gorillas are more accustomed to people, often coming within a meter—or even half a meter—of visitors. Some may even briefly touch you as they calmly go about their lives. It is an extraordinary and intimate wildlife experience.

Uganda offers something completely different. The gorillas feel much wilder, and the trekking is considerably more challenging. It is physically demanding and definitely not the easiest hike, but that is exactly what makes it so rewarding. You truly feel like you are entering untouched wilderness and observing these incredible animals in their natural environment.

If you have the opportunity, I strongly recommend visiting gorillas in both Rwanda and Uganda. Each country offers a unique and unforgettable experience, and together they complement each other perfectly.

Finally, I would like to thank Dav Safaris and especially our guide Isaac for making this journey so memorable. It was one of the greatest wildlife experiences of our lives, and we will cherish these memories forever.

10/10 – The trip of a lifetime. Exceptional experience from start to finish!
5/5

I travelled solo on DAV Safaris' 7-day Uganda safari, and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience. From my very first enquiry until the end of the trip, the communication was always incredibly fast, friendly and professional. Every question I had was answered promptly, making me feel confident and well prepared before arriving in Uganda.

The itinerary exceeded all my expectations. Of course, the gorilla trekking was an unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime experience and the absolute highlight of the trip. However, I was equally impressed by the beautiful waterfalls, the boat cruise, and the incredible game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park, where we were lucky enough to see an amazing variety of wildlife, incl. the tree climbing lions! Every day offered something unique, making the entire journey exciting and unforgettable. Even the drive-days were good!

One of the reasons I chose DAV Safaris was because ethical wildlife tourism is extremely important to me, and they fully lived up to my expectations. At no point did I feel that animals were being disturbed or exploited for tourism. The experiences always respected nature and wildlife, allowing us to observe animals responsibly in their natural environment. That gave me great peace of mind and made the entire experience even more meaningful.
I was so impressed by their commitment to ethical tourism that when I later asked them for a recommendation for a local tour operator in Zanzibar, they suggested a company that followed exactly the same values. That consistency says a lot about DAV Safaris and is something I truly appreciate.

A very special thank you goes to my guide, Richard. He was simply exceptional. Always punctual, incredibly knowledgeable, patient and genuinely passionate about his country. He answered every question I had, shared fascinating insights about Uganda's wildlife, history and culture, and even taught me many words in Luganda, making the experience feel even more authentic and personal.
As a solo female traveller, I couldn't have asked for a better guide and companion. Richard made me feel safe, comfortable and welcome throughout the entire journey: webale! :)

To make everything even more special, the lodge at where we stayed on my bday, surprised me with an unforgettable birthday cake and some singing. It was such a thoughtful gesture and a memory I will treasure forever. They truly went above and beyond to make my trip special.

The price was absolutely fair considering the outstanding quality of the organisation, accommodation, guiding and experiences included. Everything was perfectly arranged, allowing me to simply enjoy the adventure without worrying about anything.

Uganda was amazing, and DAV Safaris played a huge part in making that happen.

I wholeheartedly recommend DAV Safaris to anyone looking for an authentic, ethical and unforgettable safari experience. I would choose them again without hesitation.

Thank you, DAV Safaris. Thank you, Richard. Hopefully, this wasn't goodbye - but see you again one day!

A Dream come true
5/5

We did a 7-day safari with chimpanzee and gorilla trekking with Dav Safaris, and the entire week was an absolute dream.
We stayed in beautiful lodges, enjoyed great food, and, above all, had unforgettable encounters with an incredible variety of wildlife: rhinos at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary; lions, elephants, hyenas, hippos, and crocodiles in Murchison Falls National Park; leopards, tree-climbing lions, and huge herds of elephants in Queen Elizabeth National Park; chimpanzees in Kalinzu Forest; and, of course, the unforgettable mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. These are experiences that will stay with us for the rest of our lives.
All of this was made even more special by Solomon, the best guide we could have wished for. He is incredibly knowledgeable—not only about the wildlife but also about Uganda's culture, history, and people. He was always happy to answer our questions, was wonderful to talk to, and is an exceptionally safe driver, so we felt completely safe throughout the entire trip.
All in all, this was truly a 12/10 experience, and we couldn't recommend it more highly to anyone considering a safari in Uganda.

Above all expectations
5/5

We did a 5-day primates safari, and it was absolutely amazing. Everything went flawlessly, from the booking process to the airport drop-off. We had an amazing guide, Isaac, who made sure everything ran smoothly throughout the trip.

I also had some health issues during the safari, and Isaac went above and beyond to help. He spoke with the rangers and made sure I was still able to complete the gorilla trek, which meant the world to me.

I can't recommend this company enough. If you're looking for a well-organized safari with excellent service and a truly memorable experience, this is the one.

We had to switch from an Uganda trip to a Rwanda trip due to Ebola and Dav was very helpful in helping us switch. Our guide Issac was accommodating our needs in the entire trip. Recommend!

An unforgettable safari - safe, seamless and incredible
5/5

I had the most incredible 3-day experience with Dav Safaris, and I can't recommend them highly enough.

From the moment I was picked up, everything was seamless and perfectly organised. As a solo female traveller, I felt completely safe and well looked after throughout the entire trip, which made the experience even more enjoyable.

A huge part of what made this trip so special was my guide, Godwin. He was warm, positive, knowledgeable, and an absolute pleasure to spend time with. We had long conversations during the drives, and he shared so much about Uganda—from its landscapes, birdlife, and local food to its history and culture. I learned so much along the way.

Godwin was also incredibly attentive and responsive to my needs throughout the trip. As I had been travelling non-stop before arriving, I was starting to feel quite tired and hoped for a shorter gorilla trek if possible. He made sure my request was clearly communicated during the briefing, and I was placed in a group with a shorter, easier trek. I really appreciated the extra effort he made to ensure I had the best possible experience.

The itinerary itself was fantastic. Trekking to see both the chimpanzees and the gorillas was, of course, the highlight of the trip, and it truly exceeded all my expectations. It was one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life.

Uganda is an absolutely beautiful country, and this safari made me fall in love with it even more. Thank you to Dav Safaris, and especially to Godwin, for making this such a memorable adventure. I wouldn't hesitate to book with them again!

Amazing all around
5/5

I booked this tour ages ago after having searched different ones. This came on top form with brilliant reviews. I sent enquiry email and within a day got the proposed programme. The communication within the office was great and they provided proof of payment made very quickly. My tour started this Monday and finished today, Friday. The company was very accomodative as I wanted to add another activity to my tour. My driver/guide Solomon picked me up from my hotel on time, explained what the whole 5 days would bring and once we left Entebbe, he was telling me about Uganda. As the days went by, i noticed how flexible, friendly, knowledged about Uganda, its culture and animals he was. He also made me feel safe on the roads, made sure I was comfortable all along. He asked what my main interests of the trip were and made sure I would get to see them. Even gave me motivation to face the trek to see gorillas when I had doubts. Anyone who considers about doing a trip with Dav i highly recommend it. There will be a lot of driving but if youre like me who likes looking at what everyday Uganda offers to you and have someone like Solomon as your guide, you can either have very good chats with him along the way or if you're tired he will let you just relax and enjoy the scenary. I did chimps in Kibale Forest, Queen Elizabeth national park to see the tree climbing lions ( Solomon took me for an extra game drive to make sure my wish came true), gorilla trekking in Bwindi and then another nice visit to Lake Bunyonyi. Saw also the equator in two different places and did community walk while in Kibale. My tour only finished couple of hours ago but already regretting not staying longer

The best experience with a tour operator
5/5

Found them on instagram, Dav Safaris made me secure from the beginning. Meeting Richard was literally amazing: never met a person so responsible, so smiley and so in love with his job. He lived with us exploring Uganda and explaining all the stuff I ask. When we gad to come back to Italy, we were malinchonically happy: finish our journey but meeting new people, feeling the savana and having new fantastic memories.

Amazing Experince!
5/5

I cannot say enough about how absolutly beautiful Uganda is and how grateful we are to Dav Safaris for making our trip here so amazing. Do not hesitate to book with Dav!

My sister and I did the 4 day 3 night trip that includes Chimp and Gorilla trekking. I got a lot of quotes from other tour groups and Dav by far came in as the most reasonible price.

Our driver/guide Goodwin was beyond amazing, I cannot say enough about how great he made our trip. He was so genuinly nice and shared so much about Uganda. He took such good care of us the whole trip and even helped us get placed in an easy hike for the gorillas because of some health problems. He was a great driver, I was very confident in his skills and was never uncomfortable even on some scary small crazy roads at night! I have been lucky enough to travel all over the world and I can say Goodwin has been the best driver/guide I have ever had, Dav Safaris is lucky to have him. We all got a little sad to say goodbye after our 4 days together.

All the hotels were great, we were actually upgraded to a nicer hotel for our first one without even knowing until we got there!

The one thing to keep in mind though when booking is that this exact trip is a LOT of driving because you are covering a lot in just a few days. Make sure to pay attention to the drive times your driver gives you not what is on your itinerary. Our itinerary said 5-6 hours each day but the actual drive times were 8-9 hours and there wasnt any additional traffic or anything, that was the normal drive time. After speaking to some other travelors from other tour groups, listing shorter drive times seems to be the norm for Uganda. The drives are beautiful and scenic and you get to go through a lot of small villages and the van is uper comfortable, so its totally worth it but just be preapred you are barely at the hotels. If you have the time and money to add an extra day I would add a day between the chimps and the gorillas so you are not starting an 8 hr drive after finishing the chimps that way you are not arriving at the beuatiful Gorilla hotels at 8-9 pm. This way you get to spend some time at the nice hotels and enjoy their views!
