Marred Vacation Experience
2/5

My husband and I planned this trip for about three years; we are retired educators. The trip included two weeks in South Africa(Capetown, Safari, and the remainder of the trip spent in Victoria Falls. The first two weeks of the trip went very smoothly, and we had an excellent experience. Our nightmare began after the Victoria Falls part of the trip. When my husband and I arrived to the Victoria Falls Airport for the return flight to JoBurg for the connecting flight to the USA, South African Air could not process my husbands reservation. We waited for two hours anxious, and stressed to get the reservation corrected. South African Air blamed
Go Touch Down, Go Touch Down blamed South African Air. There were two other individuals in our party and on the same reservation. My husband and I dealt with Go Touch Down; all of the arrangement were made by this travel agency. They readily took our money for this trip, promising a quality experience. When contacted, and asked to refund some of the money,(800.00) they sent us $25.00 which was suppose to cover failure to provide an aisle seat for my husband on the return flight. We were informed by Go Touch Down that South African Air charged for a seat on the Aisle. Needless to say the Vacation was marred, and should not have been. I understand that mishaps occur. I also expect to be made whole when treated poorly. Deon Barnard, President/CEO was useless in helping us. I share this information, so that potential clients will know that should something go wrong, Go Touch Down will not do the right by you. Please contact me if you have questions or wish more information about our experience.

Amazing safari, with so many highlights and memories its impossible to pick the best - thanks Kombi!
5/5

We picked Kombi Nation after considering several different tour companies' proposals, on the strength of their innovative approach, and Rachel's great communication, thoroughness, and desire to provide just what we wanted, with close attention to detail. The safari exceeded our hopes and expectations, from the amazing locations themselves, fantastic experiences, and highly knowledgable driver whose friendliness and local contacts made everything run smoothly - we felt well looked after every step of the way, and found animals not seen by other groups because of the driver's sheer determination.. So many thanks to Rachel, Isaac and the team for an unforgettable trip.

Gorilla Trek Bwindi Uganda
5/5

We had a great time. Nicholas did an excellent job communicating with prompt emails and suggestions of hotels and area attractions. Our tour guide Gavis was awesome. He made us feel comfortable. He was knowledgeable of the area and very agreeable to our requests. He went out of his way to help us have a great time. He came back to our hotel the day after the tour to drive us around the city and to the airport free of charge. We felt we had made a true friend. We plan to do another tour with Gavis within the next few years!!

An iconic safari destination

Ngorongoro Crater (acually a caldera) is one of those must see destinations in Africa for is scenic beauty, the wonderful lodges (I stayed at the high end %Beyond Safari Lodge), and the concentrations of wildlife. I was there at the start of the rainy season so the numbers of vehicles was not as high as it gets during the dry season when it can become too crowded. The wildlife are more disperse during this season when the caldera is full of green grasses, so you need a big lens (I was mostly using my 200-500 mm lens), compared to the dry season when they concentrate around the water holes. The resident rhinos, in particular, can be quite far away. Since you can't go off-road as is possible in other locations, it means that the wildlife can a bit distant, but some good close sightings are still possible since the animals there are very acclimatized to vehicles. In my 3 days there (1 day in a private car, self guided) I got some really great shots, but relied heavily on my big lens. Since the lodges are on the rim and at around 8000 feet, the nights are cool and refreshing, and even during the day the caldera floor was not overly hot. The &Beyond food and guides was/were, as with all their locations, nothing short of superb. The caldera has no cheetah, crocodiles, giraffes, and leopards are rarely seen.

Experience of a lifetime! Luxury meets wildlife with great service and delicious food!
5/5

This was an overall amazing experience. Rochelle made this honeymoon one we will never forget. She was very hands on and made sure every detail of our trip was beyond our expectations. Initially we were supposed to stay at Tremisana but we wanted something a little more luxurious so Rochelle moved us to Katakani. It was such a beautiful room. It was partially tented and had a treehouse feel but very luxury. The food was probably the best we had during our month stay in all of South Africa. I would recommend this whole experience from beginning to end. We are so grateful to have dealt with Rochelle. She was very hands on and delightful.
