I went on a safari tour with the Maasai tribe. During the Maasai village tour, they demanded souvenirs, as they rely on tourism to make a living. It was a bit disconcerting at first. On the other hand, it was heartbreaking to see how they had to make a living. Still, it was fascinating to experience the Maasai tribe's lifestyle and traditional culture.
The safari was a treat. Our guide, Bryan, did his best to show us the animals. He constantly communicated with us via walkie-talkie, ensuring we had the best memories :)

I am from India and was in Nairobi for a meeting at the UN offices and staying at David’s place, and I decided to fit in a one-day tour with Akira Safaris. It ended up being the best part of my trip.
We started at Nairobi National Park, and it honestly felt surreal to see wildlife with the city skyline right behind it. The guide was easygoing, didn’t rush anything, and knew exactly where to take us.
The visit to the David Sheldrick elephant orphanage was the most touching moment of the day. The baby elephants, their stories, and the caretakers create such a peaceful, emotional atmosphere. We arrived at the perfect time, so it felt calm and personal.
Our final stop was the Giraffe Centre, which was just pure fun. Feeding the giraffes brought out the child in me, and I couldn’t stop smiling.
For something I booked at the last minute, Akira Safaris handled everything smoothly, great communication, perfect timing, and a guide who truly cared about the experience. If you’re visiting Nairobi for work or travel, this is a day trip that’s absolutely worth it.

We had the most incredible safari experience with Petrus as our guide and Thomas as our driver. From the moment we started the tour, they made us feel excited, safe, and completely immersed in the wild. Petrus is unbelievably knowledgeable and taught us so much about the animals, their behavior, and the land. You can tell he truly loves what he does and cares about giving guests the best experience possible.
The absolute highlight of the day was seeing two leopards, something so rare and unforgettable. Petrus and Thomas worked together to make sure we didn’t miss a single moment. This safari was the perfect mix of adventure, learning, and once-in-a-lifetime sightings. I highly recommend it. truly a dream experience.

Greatest safari ever!
Maasai Mara safari Nov 24-27
It was awesome how many of the over 30 species and thousands of animals we were able to see in action, especially lions, giraffes, cheetah, elephants, buffalos, hippos! This was very much thanks to our experienced safari guide John🙏🏻
In our magic tent camp Kebo Mara, hidden in the wild nature, we met zeebras, gazelles, buffalos and giraffes, graciously doing their own thing just some meters from us.
Our 2nd wedding anniversary was celebrated with surprise Maasai dancing and singing by the whole (male) staff, and a heart-shaped cake served for everyone🥰 Meals by Chef Steven were all excellent!
Of course the drives were bumpy and dusty, as was to be expected. What we remained wondering is the amount of safari vehicles that is allowed to surround one individual animal or a group of them; don’t the animals get very stressed??
One minus for the Pegatour’s office was that they hadn’t given any relevant info of the new tent camp neither to us nor to their own guide. Kobe Mara tent camp (5 tents and the main house) was anyhow as such a wonderful experience with their utmost hospitality!
