After experiencing several different guides over many years of safaris in Kenya, I can endorse Mr. Mbotte with Africa ShiJoy as the absolute BEST guide you'll ever find! So much so that I have returned for multiple safaris with and perhaps because of him.
It starts with Mbotte's tremendously professional planning. He arranges every detail from safety to comfort both in his vehicle as well as the lodging he carefully chooses. His Jeep is not only impeccably well-maintained, clean, and very comfortable, but it is also equipped with a cooler of cold drinks (a rarity on the Savannah), several sets of quality binoculars, and remarkably reliable wifi.
The best amenity of Africa Shijoy Safaris is the guide himself. JOSEPH MBOTTE is a human Chat GPT on everything Kenya! He can identify every single living thing that crosses your path, while explaining its distinctive behaviors. He has an uncanny ability to spot and point out wildlife that passengers would never notice - even while he's seamlessly navigating the vehicle through challenging terrain. He has an acute instinct for anticipating animals' movements, and thus he is a wizard at finding the best viewing sites. He can provide the history of animal migrations, the evolution of safari parks, and can even provide an intelligent, well-read analysis of local political and economic trends, if your group's conversation wants to go that direction.
Mbotte's English is exceptional, his accent is easy to understand. And he has a marvelous quick wit and unfaltering positivity that contagiously infect all customers in his care. It's impossible to leave an experience guided by Mbotte without an in-depth understanding of the concept of "Hakuna Matata" because, whatever does or doesn't happen during your safari with Africa Shijoy, Mbotte will make it feel like it was exactly what you wanted it to be. Dreams coming true: An unforgettable safari with an amazing guide and excellent organization!
We had such an amazing time on our safari with Altezza Travel and came home with so many wonderful memories!
We visited Arusha, Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Serengeti National Parks and were lucky enough to see an incredible number of animals. Not only did we see all of the Big Five, but also some rarer animals like cheetahs and servals. What made it even more special was seeing so many babies, including elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions and even leopards! There was something new and exciting to discover every single day.
A huge thank you goes to our safari guide Endrisha! He has an incredible amount of knowledge about the animals and nature, and we learned so much from him throughout our trip. But what impressed us even more were his incredible spotting skills! Sometimes we would spend ages trying to spot an animal with our binoculars, while he had already seen it with his bare eyes, often while driving past. Whenever we asked him how on earth he managed to spot all these animals, he would simply say it was his “Safari Eyes”. And he definitely had them! And besides being such a great guide, he was also just a really great person to spend time with. We felt completely comfortable around him and genuinely enjoyed every day of our safari together.
We also want to highlight how well everything was organized by Altezza Travel. From the very beginning until the end of our trip, everything went so smoothly. All the drivers were super friendly and always on time, and everything was taken care of, including things like checking in and out of the national parks. We never had to worry about anything and could just enjoy our safari. We really appreciated that and felt very well looked after throughout the entire trip.
The safari vehicles were another big plus! They were really comfortable and had everything we could possibly need, including a fridge, Wi-Fi and charging facilities. Especially when spending so many hours on game drives, those little extras make a real difference.
We were also really happy with the accommodations Altezza Travel had recommended for us. We felt very well advised during the planning process, and it was clear that a lot of thought had gone into choosing places that suited our preferences. Overall, the accommodations were excellent and made our trip even more enjoyable!
All in all, this safari was even more wonderful than we had imagined! Going on a safari had been a dream of mine for years, and thanks to Altezza Travel, it turned into an unforgettable experience. Especially considering that we booked just two weeks in advance, we were really impressed by how smoothly everything was organized.

Great tour operator, personal service
Our safari was a large private jeep for just the two of us and it was fantastic. Our guide (Peter) made sure we were ok all the time, checking we were happy and adjusting our schedule to make sure we got the best experience.
He was amazing at spotting things and would give us all the names of the birds and animals we didn't know.
He showed us foot prints etc and explained what it all meant.
We stayed in different lodges or permanent tents (with bathrooms etc - awesome accommodation) each night and the best one was in the Serengeti. Fantastic experience.
Food was fresh and although a tiny bit repetitive, we never went hungry.
Hotel in Zanzibar was good but I'm afraid nothing was going to beat the safari.

We did a Kenya Safari in September 2026 with Kipruto Safaris. Their service was impeccable and they made sure our safari was amazing. They are extremely flexible with last minute requests and are very responsive over WhatsApp. The value for money was great and I would recommend this tour company to anybody.
