Simply the best there is!
We have recently return from an absolutely fantastic and unforgettable 10-days safari in Kenya thanks to James Muchina and Wild Portrait Safaris!
We were a group of 8 (ages 8-76) and James planned an impeccable trip for us that included 2 nights in Nairobi/Nairobi NP/ Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, 4 nights in Masai Mara NR, 2 nights at Lake Naivasha/Hells Gate and 2 nights in Amboseli NP. Through Wild Portrait Safaris you will get a personalised tour taking into account your interests, priorities, budget etc. All our dealings with James were seamless and smooth from start to finish. His focus is always on maximising your day-to-day adventures, ensuring each day on safari and the lodges offered a unique experience. In addition to James we also had his colleague Gerald as the guide in the second car.
This was my sixth safari (4th to Kenya) and I can without doubt say that James is an outstanding guide and the best I have ever had! He is a very sympathetic, kind and thoughtful person passionate about his job and with a strong moral and ethics in what he does. James has years of experience in the various reserves and animal behaviors which gives him an outstanding ability to read animal behavior and predict what they will do next (thereby positioning you in the best possible position in terms of the animal, light and nature). You spend a lot of time in the car with your guide and we always enjoyed our conversations with James as he willingly shared his knowledge about wildlife, nature and Kenya. James went out of his way to teach the kids the wonders of the savanna. At the end of the trip James is more than your guide, he is your friend!
One thing to remember is that you can never be guaranteed what you will experience despite how excellent your guide is – nature is what it is and we are guests in the animals natural habitat. We experienced more than you can dream of during our safari thanks to James and Gerald. We went during the migration season and that means that it sometimes became very hectic/crazy at the savanna. We were in those situations proud to have James and Gerald as our guides since they always put the welfare of the animals and nature first. Their strong moral and ethics stood out compared to a lot of other safari guides behaving in a manner that cannot be described in any other way than disgraceful and disgusting.
A safari is so much more than the animals. Being on the savanna is a feeling that goes straight to your heart and something I cannot put into words – you have to experience it. And the way to do that is to have a guides as James and Geral who are passionate about the magics of the savanna and go out of their way to give you that experience (within the limits of the nature, the rules and ethics).
I would wholeheartedly recommend Wild Portrait Safaris and James as they are the best in their business!

AN AMAIZING GIRL'S TRIP
This was my very first safari experience as a Tanzanian, and I chose to visit the Ngorongoro Crater with Goldfinch Adventures. I can truly say it was an absolutely incredible journey! Growing up here, you hear about how special Ngorongoro is, but nothing compares to standing on the rim and then descending into the crater,it felt surreal, like stepping into another world where every corner was alive with wildlife.
We made it a girls’ trip, and that was the highlight for me. Experiencing the crater with my closest friends, sharing laughs, gasps of excitement every time we spotted animals, and creating memories together made the trip unforgettable. We promised ourselves this will not be the last time, next time, it’s definitely going to be Serengeti together!
Our guide, Frank, made the experience even more special. He was simply the best so knowledgeable, patient, and incredibly sharp at spotting animals from afar. It honestly felt like he had a secret connection with the wildlife, because he always knew exactly where to take us for the perfect sightings. He didn’t just drive us around,he told us stories, taught us about the animals and their behaviors, and filled the day with fun and laughter.
Vanessa and Goldfinch Adventures handled everything so beautifully from planning to all the little details that made the trip smooth and stress free. I never once had to worry about logistics, and that gave us the freedom to just enjoy the adventure fully.
It was worth every single penny. To my fellow Tanzanians and to foreigners as well I highly recommend Goldfinch Adventures. You will not regret it. For me, Ngorongoro was a dream come true, and now I can’t wait for the girls’ trip to Serengeti, because this is just the beginning!

Lambs is funny, knowledgeable and very personable.
Moafrika tours are great, they are organised so well so that you don’t have to think about anything, you can just relax and enjoy. You’ll get enough time at each spot without feeling rushed and Lambs kept us updated the whole time what was happening next.
Would highly recommend Moafrika and Lambs as a tour guide.

Be careful! They tried to cheat us!
Our experience with Pega tours was terrible! We booked two safaris with them ( Hell's gate and Nakuru). We made the deal with Peter, and he charged us 200$ each for the driver and guide in Nakuru and another 150$ each for driving us to Hell's gate and hire a guide in there. The entrance fees and the bike rental were on us.
At Nakuru everything went all right , but when we arrived to Hell's gate they told us we had to pay for the guide. We called Peter and we explained him that we paid 200$ to him for the driving to Hell's gate but also for having a guide in there, and he just hung up the phone to us after saying the 200$ were just for the transportation. Even the guides from Hell's gate were shocked for what he was doing !!! Eventually, our driver, who was great, managed to talk to him and convince him to pay the guide, because we were already talking about coming back to Nakuru.
So my advice is: do not hire anything with them, or at least with Peter! He'll try to do the same

Trip of a lifetime
What a trip. The journey was perfectly organized from start to finish—the transport, the food, the accommodations, nothing was lacking. The crew treated us exceptionally well. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and able to answer all our questions (and there were many), while the drivers made sure we always arrived quickly at the places we needed to be. Of course, you can’t arrange to see special animals—that requires luck, and we had it. But that’s not what we’ll remember. What we’ll remember is how Ole, Devid, Justin, and Hope gave us an unforgettable experience.
