Marvellous Safari experience, Professional/knowledgeable guides, Highly recommended, Budget friendly
5/5

This review is for Purity, Francis and Vincent who helped facilitate our Safari tours in Kenya and Tanzania.

Purity helped answer all our questions promptly and patiently over many weeks to formulate our itinerary. We had so many questions and concerns in the lead-up to the final plan, and we truly appreciate her patience.
Thank you Purity, you are a wonderful ambassador for Explorer Kenya.

Francis was our guide on the Kenyan side and ferried us through Masai Mara and Amboseli. He embodies a wealth of experience over many decades and knows how to give his guests the best experience. He is very professional and knowledgeable about the wilderness game drives, and passionate about animals. Our first foray into the Savanna was all thanks for Francis. He showed us lioness with cubs, lion pride stalking warthogs, Big5, and many more unforgettable sightings and memories for a lifetime. We highly recommend him to other guests.

On the Tanzanian side, our guide was Vincent Mumba. He is a thorough gentleman. He facilitated our immigration to the Tanzanian side and also our emigration to the Kenyan side upon re-entry into Kenya. He ferried us through Serengeti National Park, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro crater. There was considerable driving between each destination, and Vincent drove with patience and ensured the comfort of my family. Vincent was able to fulfill our childhood dream of river crossing sighting in Northern Serengeti. This was an indelible experience, we can never forget. He also showed us a sighting of a lion pride feasting on a topi. And the list is never-ending.

A crucial aspect of both Francis and Vincent worth significant mention, is their respect for rules and regulations of the park authorities and also for the animal's safety and well-being. While we saw time and again other company drivers drive on the bush off-road to go near the wild-life, Francis and Vincent never did this, yet gave us the best possible viewing experience. This is very commendable of them.

All the accommodations were top-notch: Mara Simba lodge, Mara Heritage camp (Northern Serengeti), Serengeti Heritage camp (Central Serengeti), Farm of Dreams, Amboseli Serena lodge.

We hold Explorer Kenya in high regard and highly recommend them to future guests. You will be in the best hands, they will take the best care of you.

In October, there were very few animals around. Migration had already ended. However, the amount of lions we saw was very big, and we had the opportunity to watch how they behaved. The fact than migration wasn't on, reduced the number of vehicles around and we could see some lions and other animals alone.

This was our first park and we were surprised how much wildlife we saw. The highlight (although grim) was seeing a zebra that had been killed by a lion and then left ready t eat later. Later we saw a female lion (possibly after the zebra had been eaten) asleep in a tree. This was then followed by many different pieces of vultures eating the remains.

The birds were stunning here. I loved seeing the flamingos and the ostriches carry out a mating ritual. The scenery was also stunning and there was a great view point.

Lake Manyara was mainly forest. The highlights for me were seeing the behaviour of the elephants: We experienced a loan elephant being welcomed to an elephant tribe where they intwined their trunks.. I also loved seeing a group of giraffes appear along the brook/river bed.

The beauty of seeing animals in the wild was amazing.

The bush drives was made special by the guides. They try hard to find the animals and get into best place for photo ops. The animals were very visible and roaming freely throughout the reserve. The evening meal in the boma with open pit bbq, was wonderful, made even more authentic with the presence of four hyenas just outside the perimeter lurking around for food scraps. South Africa is enchanting with beautiful views. The sunsets are colorful and memorable. A full moon in the African bush is beyond words. However, the best part of South Africa is the people…friendly, engaging and welcoming. This was a trip that I will always treasure.
