A great birding and other wildlife watching trip.
Our guide, Joseph Mwangi, knowledge of birds and mammals is excellent. He knows the calls and locations of some of the rarer species. I would highly recommend him. However, communication with the clients are a bit lacking. All of the accommodations we stayed in are good and located inside the national parks. Our driver, Alex, must be one of the best in Kenya. He did not race and drive at sensible speed, we felt safe with him around. The wildlife safety is important too and I hope all drivers in Kenya can learn from Alex.

Review about Selous Game Reserve by Adam Blair Golden
Birds mostly go unnoticed because of big game. The birds are amazing here. There are no rhinos or cheetah.

More than expected!
This was my third visit to Africa and my third safari. While I would like to say that one safari is better than another, you really can’t! Each is so unique and adventurous and different that you get quite a different experience each time. For Tanzania, the wildlife is great. We were in Selous, so what you should know is that I highly recommend The Selous Serena Camp for accommodations. The tents were very comfortable and the food was incredible. The guides that we had (Noah and Khalid) were so knowledgeable. There are no air conditioning units, but for this time of year, the oscillating fans were enough. You should also know that you will do quite a bit of driving before getting to large game like lions, elephants, and giraffe. Please don’t miss the opportunity to do the river safari on the Rufigi. This was the only time on safari that I was able to see a leopard! Great views of hippo and crocks on the river. You launch from the other Serena property, the lodge, and lunch will again be provided and amazing. September in Selous was dry and warm. The nights were cool. It’s a bit dusty. Zanzibar was quite the opposite! We stayed at the north of the island near Nungwi Village at La Gemma. Highly recommend this all inclusive resort. Beautiful white sand, sunsets, and the staff are so kind. We did several excursions and enjoyed all of them. My favorites were the Zanzibar cooking class with a local woman, the prison island tour, and a private sunset cruise. Please note that domestic flights in Tanzania are on tiny planes! If you have a fear of this, take your meds!! Tanzania is a beautiful country full of life, culture, kindness, and adventure. It’s a must do for any traveler!

Colourful adventure to be highly recommended.
My husband and I are a mature couple and we thoroughly enjoyed out trip to Africa. We knew roughly what we wanted to do but at first trying to organise it independently seemed a bit daunting. However I then read about Safaribookings website and from then on things fell into place.
I was able to organise a trip to see the mountain gorillas in Uganda with Bamboo Ecotours and they gave me good advice to fly into Kigali rather than Uganda.
The trip to see the gorillas was so exciting from the morning briefing to seeing the gorillas in their natural habitats and the issuing of certificates.
For the next leg of our journey we were on our own flying into Mount Kilimanjaro and doing some walking in the foothills before making our way to Arusha for a great safari to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro crater. Again I booked this through Safaribookings and the company I choose Vimat Safaris could not have been more helpful. We had a fantastic 4 day trip seeing all the animals we could wish for.
The safari company dropped us back to Mount Kilimanjaro airport and we flew to Zanzibar and enjoyed the last few days of our three week trip in Stone town but enjoyed excursions to the national park there and a lovely day boat trip. I fully recommend a trip to Rwanda, Uganda and Tanzania .

Once in A Lifetime
Mike, our driver and fearless leader, took the time to get to know us and to alter the safari to our liking. He helped a group of strangers connect as friends. He was knowledgeable about the animals and their habitat. When given a request, he did his best to exceed what we wanted to experience this once in a lifetime safari. If and when I go back, I will definitely allow Mike to be our organizer and fearless leader again.
