They were great in the planning phase, offering suggestions on how long to stay in certain places, which lodges to stay in, etc... Something that I feel is important and offered a unique experience is Mlimani is 100% Tanzania owned and operated, so you know you are supporting the local tourism industry when choosing them.
Our guide Nicolas was very experienced and provided in-depth information on the areas and animals the entire trip. After talking to a few other guests at the lodges, getting a guide that provides this additional info isn't always the case. Nicholas was also great at listening to our needs and going with the flow of the day. There were a few days when we just wanted to enjoy the pool at the lodge and not spend all day touring around, he was totally flexible and always came up with a good daily plan that fit our needs.
As far as animals and parks - everything was perfect. We saw the "big 5" and so much more!! We were never rushing around to catch the next big thing like I felt some safari vehicles were doing. We visited Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and two local tribes.
Mlimani suggested we go in late May, which ended up being a perfect time to go. We loved that the lodges were not as crowded as in peak season but we still saw all of the animals. Thank you so much Mlimani for making our trip of a lifetime just that much more special!!

Jean Claude was our guide and he was PERFECT!!!! Great knowledge, soooo well spoken, and extremely creative and attentive. If we wanted to change the schedule, he gladly did and accommodated any new on-the-whim ideas we had. Frank truly went above and beyond for our family and you can tell when someone is a good person - and Frank is a truly soul-to-Earth good human - he did a lot more for our family than this review will give us space to write. He knew how much we dreamed of seeing the gorrillas and did far more than anyone else ever would to help us on our journey. Incredible experience with the best guides
The tour was great. We were picked up at the appointed time from our hotel, accompanied by a guide and a driver. On the way we were chatting and it was very pleasant. It is true that the road is very long (from Dar Es Salaam to Mikumi Park was about 6 hours), but we stopped for lunch before arriving and there was no problem to stop at some point to stretch or go to the toilet. Once in the park we immediately started the game drive, to look for animals. The guide was telling us all about the animals we were finding, as well as about the park in general and the other parks in Tanzania. The driver knew the park well and took us around the area very well. Even at sunset they took us to see lions. The first night we slept in the park itself, in very well equipped huts. Dinner was also included. The next day we started the game drive very early (at 6:30 before breakfast) to see the animals waking up, which is when they are most active. We had breakfast and then we went around the park until noon. At the end of the tour we saw lionesses and their cubs, giraffes, elephants, antelopes, wildebeest, zebras, hippos, crocodiles and many birds. The second night we slept outside the park, in Camp Bastian, which is super nice, full of nature. We had dinner and early the next morning after breakfast, we returned with the guide and the driver back to Dar. The most incredible thing is that the road out of the park crosses the park, so we saw giraffes and elephants. Overall a very good tour, both the guide and the driver were super nice and pleasant, you could tell they knew the area and liked their job. It is true that it is a very short tour and at the end it gets tiring, but I recommend it if you don't have much time to go to the big parks in the north of the country.
