About: Zambia
African safari as it should be
Overall rating
5/5

We visited Zambia for our Honeymoon in this October.
I decided to travel back here after an incredible first visit 5 years ago. We visited Kafue, both Luangwa Parks and of course livingstone and the falls: What a wonderful and rewarding experience !!
- wildlife viewing was superb : we just missed cheetah and rhino but saw 7 leaopards during our trips, lion, loads of hippos, Elephants, koudous impalas, pukus , zebras and buffaloes and encountered less common species such as sable antelope, hartebeest, a pack of 20 wild dogs (in south luangwa), bushpigs. Except near the Mfue gate we had the animals for ourselves!
Whats really liked in parks such as Kafue is that we had to really search game : find some clues (footprints), track them down and in the end...we were rewarded
- Safaris and guidings were excellent: our guide in North Luangwa was able to find lion footprints, we followed these footprints and we able to discover a lone male Lion that roares and jumped from a busm just 20m ahead of us! Moreover guides are friendly, very accessible and give great explanations. We mixed, game drives, night drives canoe and walking safaris.
- Accomodation was exclusive, rustic (made from natural materials) : we were 100% part of the wilderness
- Food was 100% hand cooked and really delicious

All in all what is so special with Zambia is that you do not feel the commercial aspect of the safari industry : you have excellent and dedicated guides for yourself (no tourist buses here), you feel the bush vibe (no tared roads, no fences), tourists densities are low (in Kafue we were alone in our camp) and some of the industry benefits are dedicated to local communities which is great

We absolutely recommend this marvellous country !!

Truly a "Gorillas in the Mist" tour!
5/5

Our trip to Rwanda and Uganda started off with a lot of excitement. This isn't your usual East Africa trip - after all we were going to trek through dense forest scouting for mountain Gorillas - the highlight of the trip. It lived up to every wild expectation we had minus Tarzan.

We started our travels in Kigali - Rwanda is a beautiful country, clean, and her people are friendly to a fault. It's a country that is shaking off its dark past of genocide. I wish them the very best! Do visit the Genocide Memorial - we all can learn a lot from that dark past.

Day 1 - Golden Monkeys at Virunga. Mild trek through bamboo forest to view these beautiful creatures very up close. Stop on the way when you see sugarcane and chew on it the old fashioned way.
Day 2 - Bwindi Impenetrable Forest - and trust me it IS!! It's about a 15 mile round trip to spend an hour with the Nkuringo family. For God's sake please don't ask if Gorilla's are "aggressive", "are they man-eaters" and the like. They are the most gentle beings I have seen. What a beautiful, tiring, beautiful, life-changing experience. There are 900, yes just 900 left in the wild!
Day 3 - Brief stop over at Kalinzu to spot Chimps (on the way to Queen Elizabeth National Park. We saw them right away, but they prefer to hang out waaay on top of the canopy. Still worthwhile.
Day 4 - Queen Elizabeth National Park - very large area, but not as prolific as the Maara. Evening boat tour down the Kazinga Channel was a dream. Spectacular. I recommend doing this twice in lieu of going inside the park.
Day 5 - Lake Mburo National Park. Rwakoko lodge is high up on a rocky hill - its a beautiful lodge. Night safari and next day morning bird walk were the highlights. We all wished we should have spent an extra day here. Watch out for baboons - these curious, naughty buggers will steal anything they can lay their hands on. One of them still has my wife-beater T-shirt!
Day 6 - Loooong drive to Jinja - the source of the Nile. To be honest the drive was very tiring - especially after the first 5 days where we spent a lot of time amongst nature. En route you can stop by the Equator and take those selfies!! Also don't hesitate to try the local banana hooch, or the sweet bananas themselves. Jinja is a busy, dusty town - go there if you are into white water rafting, or would like a quite kayak down the river. Very nice experience - but be prepared for a long drive.

Why Mowgli? Personalized touch, attention to a lot of detail. Sachin is very passionate about what he does and it shows. He'll go out of his way to make your experience a great one. Don't even hesitate. Ask and he will tailor a trip you will cherish.

Amazing 3-day safari in the Selous Game Reserve
5/5

We had an amazing experience with Selous Explorer, more specifically with our guide Nestor and our cooker Rashidi. Thank Asna for answering my emails because there were many . Everything was perfect, Nestor is a master in finding animals (we even saw a leopard !) and Rashidi cooks really delicious meals. The car is comfortable, there is always cold water during the activities and the team is very kind. They do everything for you in order to have a perfect safari. We highly recommand Selous Explorer for doing safaris, considering the fact that they have the best quality-price ratio.
Thank you million times Nestor, Rashidi and Asna ! You have made our holidays unforgettable.

Best regards,
Alexandra & David

A wonderful experience.
5/5

Our group of 6 booked a gorilla trek with Safari 2 Gorilla Tours after being recommended to this company by a friend. We were not disappointed. Aron communicated with us regularly leading up to our trip and helped us plan the perfect trek. We were collected at our accommodation and looked after extremely well by our driver from pick up until drop off the following day. Aron planned our accommodation in the Bwindi Forest which was incredible. Our trek was an unforgettable experience and one I would highly recommend to anyone. I would have no hesitation in recommending Gorilla 2 Safari Tours to anyone wanting to experience the beauty of Uganda and all it has to offer.

My Safari trip were one of the bests experiences in my life. It was everything good since before my arrival. My guide Nickson was the best one, very talkative, friendly and easygoing. The environment and animals in Africa are awesome, difficult to express in words. I love the trip and i strongly recommend for everyone. Na Penda Africa.

Twaha is the best guide ever!
5/5

It was a great experience doing this trip with Twaha, he is a good driver and you feel comfortable in his company. I could ask him any question and he answered me with details and patients. He knows so much about the animals and including birds. He also got me a book to look up the birds again to revise them.

Tarangire, Ngorongoro crater& Serengeti honeymoon safari.
5/5

Brenda and her team were so great about everything from start to finish. The itinerary that was made was perfect, and hit all of the things that we wanted to see. Once we arrived we had Leslie and Steve as guides, and they were so great! They took into consideration our favorite animals, and what we wanted to see to try and get us to the spots with the best chance of making it happen. You can't control nature, but we got very lucky with being able to see 2 rhinos, 2 leopards, and a river crossing! Can't forget about the pride of 24 lions! The accommodations were great also! You were really in with nature but it made it all seem so much more real. The jeep was comfortable, food was good, and was very happy there was so much water. Overall it was a trip of a lifetime and we were lucky that we got to do it for our honeymoon! Thank you so much Brenda and team!

Our guide Gidion, was simply awesome. He made all the difference.he knew the nooks and corners of Masai,Lake Naivasha Mt Kenya(our itinerary) and probably so much more. If u do get him as your guide, consider yourself lucky.
