Lions, lions, lions
5/5

This tour exceeded my expectations. We took a tour to the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, and Tarangire. It was incredible. We saw so many lions, including a pride of lions (6 females, a cub and a male) as well as a male lion kill a Topi. Amazing. We also saw pretty much every other animal there is, including a leopard, cheetah, and so many wildebeast for the great migration. It didn't hurt that the food was top-notch either. Multiple course meals and professionally prepared. 5 stars all around.

Amazing African safari
5/5

Going on an African safari has been a dream of ours for many years. When we originally started planning our trip in December 2019 we never could have guessed the impact that COVID-19 would have on the world and our plans. In June when it was announced that US travels could again travel through EU airports and flight prices were at an all time low we decided to go for it and booked our trip for July. We could not be more pleased of how everything went. The four day trip through the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and Tarangire was absolutely incredible.

From planning to final departure, everything that the Safari Soles team did was above top notch. When some of our flights within Tanzania were canceled and we could not find alternatives, Bryson was there to help us book local airfare. We like to taste local beers during our travels and is was a nice touch that beer was picked up for us to be enjoyed as we liked. Of course, plenty of bottled water was also provided throughout the trip.

Everyone we encountered, from our phenomenal driver and guide, David, to all of the camp staff, took our health and safety very seriously. For the most part, we saw very few people each day and saw a lot more animals than people. What better way to social distance than with wild animals?! We were asked to wear masks in very limited situations but most of the staff continued to wear them whenever they were around us and our temperature was taken at every lodge before entering.

The experience we had on the safari drives would not have been possible without our incredible driver and guide, David. He was knowledgeable, friendly, upbeat, and fun to be around, all of which go a long way when you spend four full days eating every meal together and spending 8 plus hours every day in a vehicle together. He worked hard to locate every animal we wanted to see, which of course, was all of them. Our favorites were the multiple lion prides we encountered, elephant, zebra, wildebeest, gazel, and giraffe herds which we saw every day, and the rear cat species we saw including leopard, cheetah, and serval. Many other animals were also seen including hippos, hyenas, jackal, rhino, baboons, mongoose, and so many bird species!

David ensured that everything was taken care of everywhere we went and even took the grueling task of teaching us some Swahili in stride. Asante sana!

The accommodations that were arranged exceeded expectations as did the meals that included local fair and three courses every time. Rooms were spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Hot water was available at every camp. Our first two nights we "camped" we experienced all the benefits of every glamper's dreams including soft linens, towels, and bath robes! Complementary toiletries were also available at each camp. Our third and final night we stayed at a luxurious lodge set within the Arusha hillside where we had our own villa and as the only guest on site an infinity pool, chef, and amazing and friendly staff.

Taking a trip around the world during a global pandemic wasn't something we planned on but doing so with Safari Soles was an experience we will never forget and one we would highly recommend at any time! The people of Tanzania are friendly, generous, and kind. The views are unmatched and the animals you will experience are unbelievably majestic.

About: Mazingira
Perfect Safari in these days of 2020
5/5

What a wonderful safari experience in these days of 2020

At the end of 2019, we had booked a 7 day safari in Tanzania with Mazingira Eco – a locally owned safari company.
Our luck was that it was in Tanzania and not in another country,
because since May the Tanzanian borders are opens and they take all measures to make sure everyone is Welcome!
Nevertheless we had often to postpone our flights
because the airline (Ethiopian) which flies 787 planes with 60 passengers from Milan via Addis Ababa to Kilimanjaro
had to adjust its schedule. Mazingira was very flexible with all the date changes,
thanks Johari my contact person who helped us in planning the safari.
She is fast, flexible, patient and knowledgeable.
Despite of the time differences the communication was easy through WhatsApp.
Finally the safari took place as planned with our guide Solomon.
Solomon is a very good person, knowledgeable and charming.
He even spotted Cheetahs and Leopards at an incredible distance from the naked eye...
If travelling again with Mazingira we will ask for Solomon (Our best Guide).
At the end we arrived home SAFE.
Everything was perfect and many thanks to all the people involved from the Mazingira family.
For all who want to see animals and not tourists it is the ideal time to go.

Hell's Gate was a Walk-Bike Through The Paradise
5/5

We booked our 1 day Hell's Gate Biking Safari Trip through the Kenya Safari Holidays. Simon was quick to respond back on our questions related to the trip and helped with the bookings.

Biking through the Safari was an amazing experience. We saw zebras, giraffes, wildebeest, gazelles, pumbas and impalas to name a few. The biking started from the entrance to the national park. A jeep containing all our stuff was following us closely, so that we could just relax and enjoy our bike ride. At the turning point, we were exhausted so decided to take the jeep ride back.

Simon is a friendly and nice guide. He arranged pick up and drop off to our hotel at Nairobi. We spoke about a lot of things on the way to and from the national park - about Kenya's culture, history and the people. We picked up a few courtsey words in Swahili as well - like Asante Sana and Karibu :-)

Overall, I would highly recommend doing this trip with the Kenya's Safari Holidays. We stayed in Kenya for 3 days only, and it wasn't enough to explore the richness of flora and fauna the country is gifted with. We certainly plan to visit Kenya again in the future, and when we do, we would like to avail the services of Kenya Safari Holidays.

Unforgettable 7 day safari and Kilimanjaro hike with Saladini & Gilbert
5/5

My husband and I went on a 7 day safari with Lion King Adventures in the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Lake Maynara and Tarangire.

We really enjoyed working with our guide, Gilbert. If you go on a safari, you should request Gilbert. He has eyes like an eagle and spotted many animals. He worked his hardest to ensure we saw the Big 5! We even spotted a black rhino in the Serengeti which is rare. We found 8 lion cubs (my favorite). He shared his extensive knowledge of animals, plants, culture and history. We appreciated that he is a skilled and safe driver which is important on the rough roads. One of Gilbert’s impressive qualities is that he has a kind heart to help others. There are so many examples but I will share 3: A car flipped over after speeding through a sharp turn on gravel so Gilbert ran to help by using his tow rope and a car jack to flip the car over and save the passengers, he helped another guide change a flat tire in the dark during a night game drive, and he helped guides who need directions because he always knows where we are. Finally, his personality is relaxed- when you want something it’s always hakuna matata! It would not have been this incredible of an experience without Gilbert.

The company overall has been flexible with adjusting for changes due to the pandemic. Rose built a personalized itinerary with a competitive price. The manager Pendo gave us detailed communication before the safari which gave us confidence that the company will handle everything professionally. The safari vehicles are comfortable (cushions, charging station, high vantage point, top that can be raised, 2 spare tires, binoculars, unlimited water, soda, beer, and Gilbert cleaned it every night). They even gave us 2 bottles of wine with our names on them! We enjoyed the mid-range accommodations (but you can choose luxury or budget). Our favorite place was Embalakai in central Serengeti.

Overall we had an experience we will never forget. I’d highly recommend working with Lion King Adventures and Gilbert if you’re planning a safari in Tanzania.

After enjoying the 7 day safari with Gilbert, my husband and I decided to use Lion King Adventures again for a Kilimanjaro day hike. Our mountain guide was Saladini and Gilbert was our driver. We had a great experience. It was a nice way to get a taste of Kilimanjaro without doing the full trek to the summit.

Saladini is a mountain professional. He has 12 years of experience and he’s also training people to become guides. He has a fun personality, even singing to us while hiking. He knows a lot about the mountain, animals, plants, and history. He took many pictures for us. He even carried my backpack for some of the uphill part. He also had a surprise for us when we got to the crater.

About the day hike- it’s the Marangu route (the route you are allowed to do out and back). You’re going to a crater 20 min past the first camp and then coming back down. A little over 13 miles in about 6.5 hours. 4 up, 2 down, break for lunch and viewpoint. You need to exit the park by 5pm so it’s an early start. Pendo coordinates everything beforehand. Saladini met us for a briefing the day before the hike. Gilbert got us there and back safely, waited for us and drove us back to Arusha. You’ll get lunch and plenty of water. Overall a great experience.
