Great experience in the Serengeti
5/5

From the beginning communication with Uhuru Travel & Tours was excellent. Mr. Loy met up before we left on our safari from Arusha, as well as upon our return to Arusha. Margaret was extremely responsive to all email communications. The actual safari was great. The food while camping far exceeded our expectations. It was a great experience.

so happy to be a part of an environment where wild life is still respected
5/5

When you are choosing a safari company, in fact you are choosing a service to build up probably the most unforgetable trip of your life. I am happy that ours was a smart decision.

I should start with our guide Fredy: A very professional, knowledgable, cool and kind person! He spoke English very well, always gave lots of information about the animals, even showed their close-up pictures from his book, answered all our questions patiently, made sure to locate the car at the best angle for taking photos (and showing respect to people at the other cars and animals - which is so important to us), waited patiently while we took tons of pictures. Most importantly, he was more than a guide, a friend with nice character that we would like to have with us on a long holiday.

Our talented chef Chaz was a master. He always cooked very delicious food and made sure we had enough. He surprised us by serving tasty and special things very quickly even early in the morning. We will miss the excellent food we had during the safari. Also we will miss his joyful chats with Fredy.

We had a difficult time in choosing the safari company as there are about 1000 alternatives. When I decided on one and was about to pay, there had been a couple of things I did not like. I checked for an alternative and met Suricata. I thought it was a young company but experienced enough. Hilary answered my e-mails very promptly. He was flexible and did his best to tailor the programme according to our wishes. I noticed he is one of the founders and that made me feel more comfortable knowing that he will be there to solve any possible problem. I was right; there had been a small misunderstanding during the trip and was solved through a phone call between Fredy and Hilary. Paying the deposit was easy and safe and we did the rest of payment on arrival.

We were a family of 3 people and had an 8 days private safari including Arusha National Park, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Lake Eyasi (tribe visits), Serengeti and Ngorongoro. These 8 days were full of magic. Surprisingly, visiting the tribes was the highlight of our trip. We met Maasai, Datoga, Hadzabe, Makonde and Gidangodic people and had a wonderful time with them. We learned the way they live. We went to hunting with Hadzabe, jumped with Maasai, sang with Datogas who asked many questions about ourselves and our country and we were warmly welcome by all tribes. We keep the souvenirs mostly done and sold by women for ourselves as they are so precious to us and all are a great memory.

During those visits local guides Deo and Yusuf (sorry if I mispronounce) accompanied and helped us to communicate as the tribes' languages are different. Also there was an armed ranger (Ali) and his intern who accompanied us in Arusha National Park for a walking safari.

While deciding about how to use our budget before the safari, we preferred budget camping. Doing so, we could take a longer trip rather than paying more for lodge-stays. We are happy we did. But you might prefer lodges if you do not feel cool and adventurous enough. In Serengeti and Ngorongoro you hear voices of wild animals just around your tent. In our case, something rare occurred and lions tried to hunt two buffalos very close to our tents and one animal hit the tent. We were lucky as nobody was hurt (buffalos also survived) and now we have a story to tell all through our life. Also we heard steps of many zebras feeding around our tents in Ngorongoro Simba Campsite.

Choosing November for safari also has been a wise decision. Although it is short-rains season, luckily there was no rain. Also the parks and public camp-sites were not over-crowded. The herds had already arrived Seronera region so we were lucky to experience the great migration.

And yes, we saw all of the "big 5" but a safari should be regarded not as an experience of seeing; but as feeling. It is hard to describe how happy we felt during all these 8 days. In most of the world, people have built up plazas and cities full of unhappiness. With a human-centric point of view, they left no space for wild life. We are lucky people who experienced to spend 8 days at a place on earth where things are different. We were able to be a part of an environment where wild life is still respected and preserved. And we would like to thank Fredy, Chaz, Hilary and the rest of the Suricata team who helped this dream to come true. Asante sana!

Super trip Longido/Natron Lake/Serengeti/Ngorongoro/Tarangire/Zanzibar
5/5

Group 5 people, very satisfied with our trip. Franck Mella very reactive knew to listen to us and advise us, according to our wishes and budget.
We had 2 fantastic guides speaking in French , Joseph with whom we have made we made of superb walks at the Massais, and Erasto who made us live magical moments at Natron Lake and was able to find for us, all the animals of the savanna, thank you for their competence and their good mood and thank you our cook Sril who won us back.
The program was respected, the organization was perfect, vehicles and equipment (2 nights camping at Natron Lake) in good condition. The logdes (Serengeti/Ngorongoro) et hotels in Zanzibar were perfect
Another highlight of our trip, we met very few tourists, even in the parks and to Jambiani the beach practically only for us)
We recommend this agency, go quietly with Franck and his team

Excellent service and guide
5/5

I had my friends come over from the USA and they wanted a Safari at the Mara. We booked with Sureway tours and they surpassed our expectations!

We were in the company of a great safari guide who showed us all the animals you love including the big 5 (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino)
Sureway Tours gave my friends and I a lifetime experience plus the lodge they recommended was incredibly beautiful and the food was amazing!

Cheap and cheerful- great tour! 7 nights 6 days Hell’s Gate-Masai Mara-Nakuru-Amboseli
5/5

For us, Edward made the trip as he was extremely knowledgable, hard working and funny! He was a great guide and also great company.

The bus is fairly spacious and comfortable and the tour sizes are reasonable. We were just the two of us for day 1, then 3 more joined for days 2-5 and 2 more for the final two days (making 7 people in total for the final ride, the maximum group size but there was still enough room).

Day 1 we went to Hell’s Gate, which is small national park. You can see zebras, wilderbeast, giraffes, buffalo, warthogs etc. The scenery is very beautiful although it must be said the wild life at the Masai Mara/aamboseli is much more exciting. There is an option here to rent bikes which is fun!

Day 2 and 3 were at the Masai Mara which was INCREDIBLE. Edward was a great guide and worked hard communicating all day on the radio so we saw lots of lions, a leopard, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles etc! Amazing!!

Day 4: we had a drive to Nukuru via lake Naivasha where we stopped to do a boat ride (20 dollars extra but you can negotiate this price down- we ended up paying 12). Quite cool and a nice activity to break up a long day of driving.

Day 5: we spent the morning in Lake Nakuru national park where the main attraction is black and white rhinos. This was definitely worth the stop as rhinos are hard to come by in the other parks. After the game drive was a very long drive to Amboseli. This is quite a long day as we left Nukuru at 10ish and didn’t arrive at Amboseli until 7. Accommodation here is much more basic than the others, but it is very close to the park.

Day 6: Amboseli game drive. This is beautiful mostly because of the setting, with the view snow capped Kilimanjaro. There are fewer animals than Masai Mara, but it is extremely beautiful. There’s also an option to do a walking safari with Masai guys for $10/person. This was a real highlight as after 7 days in the car it’s nice to stretch the legs. We saw elephants and giraffes from the ground which was a very cool experience.

Day 7: the rest of our group headed out for a morning game drive before heading back to Nairobi. We were continuing by ourselves to the beach so Edward very kindly arranged to buy our tickets online for the train from Emali to Mombasa ($7/person), and also got us a bargain taxi to the station (2 hour ride for $30).

Overall this is an excellent safari for the price we paid. Having read through some of the 1 star comments below I want to be clear that this is a budget tour (one of the cheapest in Nairobi) and therefore all reviews should take into consideration that it is cheap and cheerful, and you should not expect a luxurious tour if you are paying a bargain price!

The itinerary was occasionally subject to change, but the no one is trying to cheat you they are just trying to make tours for multiple people work for a good price so you must be patient and trust they have your best interests at heart!

Finally a HUGE thank you to Edward making our experience so great.

Excellent and Amazing Experience With Hodari Kenya Safaris
5/5

Samuel and his team were on time to meet us at our hotel. They handled our group in a highly professional manner. We visited the giraffe center, elephant orphanage, the old American embassy that suffered a terrorist attack, the Nairobi Museum, local markets and as well had a city safari walk to various places in the city of Nairobi. It was such an unforgettable experience and we will definitely choose HODARI KENYA SAFARIS anytime we are planning a trip to Kenya.

5/5

I recommend Safari soles for many reasons:
Bryson is very cool person and was always available and responded to all our questions immediately during the preparations and the trip. He arranged a ride from and to the Kilimanjaro airport for us.
We had a flight directly after the Safari , he made sure we got to the airport on-time.
The safari tour itself was perfect , our driver Ninah the best Driver, was very skilled and made sure we saw the big 5 and more. Food was yummy .

Thanks Bryson and for all other guys.

Fantastic five day camping safari
5/5

Safari Soles provided us with an excellent safari experience. It’s staff was responsive and professional but also very positive and likable, which is important when you’re spending several days with them.

Bryson was great about communication - quick to provide the requested quote and to answer my questions. David Simba, our driver/guide, is obviously very experienced - his ability to spot animals and his knowledge about them was amazing. Our trained chef, Dulla, prepared fabulous meals. I didn’t expect multi-course meals while on a camping safari!

The safari exceeded our expectations in every way. I explained about the communication and food above but on a safari it all comes down to the animals. We got fantastic views of SO many types of animals, including both predators and grazers. David made it even more interesting by explaining about the behaviors we observed. Especially memorable moments for me included seeing lion cubs peering from their rocky perch, two female lions on a high point grooming each other, a mother cheetah teaching her four cubs to hunt and seeing a baby zebra walk on wobbly legs minutes after it had been born.
