Magnificent - a beautiful country and we always felt safe.
I booked and everything ran like clockwork. I trusted Maria's advice on the Safari Lodge which I knew was going to be the highlight of our trip and our 4 nights at Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge exceeded our expectations. Our first day was wet so we couldn't go off road, but still saw numerous animals including lions and rhinos close to the road. We ended up seeing the Big 7, i.e. the Big 5 plus cheetahs and wild dogs. The only downside was the expectation of generous tipping. In my view, I had already paid a significant amount in the first place, however our Ranger, Tracker & Waiter were exceptional so we followed the tipping guidelines that were on display in our room. The accommodation was first class as was the food.

Lucky Wildlife Encounters and Fascinating Animal Interactions Around the Lodge
I joined the 4 Day Tremisana Safari and it was an great South African wildlife experience. I was lucky enough to see white rhinos on a bush walk, elephants near our lodge, a leopard on my final morning, and even a hyena near our bush barbecue dinner!
The golden sunsets and sundowners during game drives were beautiful. Staying at Tremisana Game Lodge was also a highlight, especially watching elephants and impala visit a nearby waterhole from our outdoor patio.
The weather can change quite a bit, so I recommend bringing both sun protection and warm layers. Although the drive from Johannesburg Airport to the lodge was long, the safari experience was well worth it, it is a fantastic destination.

Outstanding Experience in South Africa
It was the first time we have been to South Africa. We started in Cape Town. We stayed in the recently refurbished Intercontinental in Table Bay. It is in a handy position on the wharf. Our room was a suite overlooking the bay where we could see seals frolicking in the sparkling water, and the various activities on the wharf. While in Cape Town Liezel booked us a helicopter flight to view the gorgeous Cape Town coastline, Table Mountain and the various other mountains. The flight was at sunset on a beautiful sunny day. It was a great start to our Cape Town experience. We also did a sunset cruise, which was stunning, to see Cape Town harbour. During our few days we dined

at stunning eateries such as Bobo's and Kloof Street House. A standout for us was The Chef's table at Beau Constantia. After a few fun filled days in Cape Town embarked on a Safari in two Private Game reserves in the Kruger region. The first one was Amani, Klaserie Drifts reserves, it was extremely special. Beautiful location. Great staff and delicious fresh food. The stand out guide was Lola. Her knowledge and calm disposition elevated the whole experience. With the first two drives at the reserve we had seen the BIG five, and plenty of beautiful birdlife. We loved the early morning and early evening drives. We saw the rare Wild Dogs, hyena's, elephants, lions, a leopard, giraffes. It was spring and there were plenty of baby animals. We loved Amani in Klaserie Drifts som much we didn't want to leave, it was such a surreal, spiritual experience. It's a small camp and very personal. Cannot recommend this highly enough. we couldn't believe how close we got to the animals without upsetting them. Our photos are exceptional. The second amazing reserve we stayed at was Inyati in Sabi Sands, right next door to Richard Branst was a more traditional slightly larger lodge. The drives were incredible. There were no fences around our villa, the hippos and their babies liked to graze directly outside our room at night. The head guide Diff was lengendary, his knowledge and respect for the animals, second to none. Highly recommend. We left South Africa with full hearts and keep talking about when we might go back. We discovered it was more than ticking off the bucket list, it was discovering a magnificent expansive country with so much and more.
Liezel Knott is amazing to deal with when booking any trips or adventures in South Africa.

My stay at Rhino Post Safari Lodge reinforced exactly why. The incredible diversity of wildlife, spectacular landscapes, abundant birdlife, and peaceful atmosphere of the African bush make every game drive a unique adventure.
One of the highlights was exploring Rhino Post's private concession within Kruger National Park, where approximately 80% of our game drives took place away from the regular tourist roads. This provided a much more intimate and authentic safari experience, often making us feel as though we had

the wilderness entirely to ourselves. Our exceptional guides, Michael and Fabian, brought their remarkable knowledge of wildlife, animal behavior, and the surrounding environment to every drive, making each experience both educational and unforgettable.
This was my second South African safari adventure, and I am already planning my return in October 2028. Five stars in every category, without hesitation!

Short safari left us keen for more
We were off to birdwatch Madagascar, and we had to go through Johannesburg. So we thought, why not have a short safari to Kruger on the way? We used Safari Bookings to help us get quotes and chose a two-night three-day package. It was terrific! Transfers were straightforward, our guide Eric was excellent, and it was great fun staying in Rondavels just near the park, with guinea fowl just out on the grass in front. We saw lots of wildlife and lots of birds. For keen birdwatchers, it is worth booking a private tour, so you can shout "stop the car!" whenever you see anything you are interested in. Our short visit netted us 104 bird species and many exciting large animals: zebra, giraffe, hippo, elephant, hyena, even a leopard! This "taster" was a great success and I'm sure we'll be back for a longer stay.
Just a quick note, the transfer back to Johannesburg was via the Panorama route, very pretty and I'm glad we did it, but beware! Lunch was not until 4pm and we were starving!

An impressive country
We loved our trip, 6 days in Jo’burg and 8 in safari. We developed a connection with the city that will stay with us forever, the feeling from the inside of a giant country that is building its way towards the hopes of Mandela and a whole nation. The safaris in Kambaku and Klaserie Misava were excellent, there was no room for any disapointment as everything was exactly as expected and better. A special mention for Kambuku and Timbavati in general, where the sightings were the best. Kambaku has a stellar team right now, genuine and empathetic towards guests. Hard to beat friendliness and hospitality. Misava is spectacular and a must see, the staff was very good and friendly also. A great itinerary that speaks volumes about Family Safari’s knowledge and competence.
