Best Park in Africa

Kruger has everything you need for your wildlife experience. The overnight Huts are perfect to stay in for a few days and you get to see every animal you can imagine. Go in the winter months so there's less green on the trees and more room to see everything.

It was an excellent trip, the best that my wife and I went on.

The trip was made pleasurable as we were ferried about by our guide Bernhard Bekker and he was very knowledgeable and showed us the big 5 in day! We saw lots of impala, elephants, birds and giraffe. The park looked well taken care of and the scenery was excellent! Our guide was kind enough to take us to the Kruger gate where we had coffee with the elephants and buffalo.

The rooms were separate from the lodge. There was a lake in front of the room with lots of hippos. They made fun noises at night. The dining was outside in a covered area next to the lake. Food was excellent and made to order at each meal. Good wine.
The excursions were exciting and we saw wildlife every trip. We saw everything we wanted up close and personal.
We even had a surprise dinner around a large campfire in the bush one night. Gave us a feel for the bush after dark. I would recommend the lodge and park to anyone wanting to go on safari.

Kruger in winter
Overall rating

Kruger National Park in South Africa is one of he best places in the world to escape the winter cold.
Many internationals and locals tourist flocks to this beautiful protected wildlife wilderness.

Birding in winter is not the best as many species left to the warmer parts of Africa and even Europe area's but their is still some stunning species flying around mostly residents like the Bateleur and Martial eagles.

This is also a very good time to observe crocodiles and hippos doing sunbathing as the water temperature is cool and reptiles are cold blooded so they seek the son.

The shrubs and trees loses their leaves and the bush becomes more open to see animals from a distance especially Leopards are very active next to rivers and waterholes as animals concentrates during the heat of the day. Lions also uses this opportunity to wait for unexpected pray animals like Zebra and Giraffe to drink so that they can launch a surprise attack.

The landscape turn a light brown colour and sunrises and sunsets are unmatched with the dust and smoke from veld fires covering the horizons. The stars are also amazing at night although you will need a jacket and blanket on game drives early morning and late afternoons it worth the effort.

The Kruger is a special place during the year but the winter sun changes this landscape into a amazing place defiantly worth a visit for a couple of days.

All major restaurants in the park has been upgraded and the Skukuza Airport just re-open so fly in safaris is possible.

A safari experience that's accessible to all types of travelers

The beauty of South Africa’s flagship park is that it’s accessible to almost anyone – whether you’re travelling alone, in a large group, a 4x4 or in a small sedan. The extensive road network is very well maintained.
It’s a park that has so much to offer – from walking trails in very remote wilderness areas to mountain biking trails, 4x4 trails, camp sites, luxury accommodation and regular cottages. Of course, this park boasts the Big Five, but you really will experience so much more of the bush if you take time to go on a guided walk (ask at your camp’s office about guided walks and night drives) and stop to notice the small things: the insects, grasses and bird calls.
The park is one of the most popular tourist destinations in South Africa, and it can get particularly busy during the South African school holidays. That said, it’s usually the roads close to the camps that are busy, and the further afield you drive – and the further north you travel – the quieter the roads become.

It's South Africa's most famous national park for very good reasons. It's huge so you can spend weeks exploring it. So many animals and birds to be seen. The rest camps are very well established, well run and well supplied.

these wonderful animals and unspoilt landscape with the many "wild" impressed us greatly. We saw many species of birds, but unfortunately are not connoisseurs of the bird world.

Kruger is amazing but you're stuck to the roads. For a more entrenched experience, try visiting Sabi Sands.

Kruger National Park is massive, beautiful and diverse. The accommodation can be anything from a tent to a 5* resort. The Game lodges like Lion Sands allow you to see and learn about the animals but the Kruger gives you the respect for just how rare some of the animals are and how lucky you were to see them.
