Excellent safari, but poorly organised
3/5

Jocky will arrange your pick up in a normal car and bring you to their office where you get in the safari vehicle (this was not communicated at all, but is sensible).
Good value for money - a day and a half of safari in MM, plus accommodation, park fees, food and transport. MM is totally worth it - we saw so many different animals. My guide also helped me join a hot air balloon ride.
However, I had some concerns about the way our guide treated both the rules in the MM and the animals - he often drove off road, right into/up to the big cats in the bushes, skipping the lines of other vehicles and getting in trouble from rangers. A lot of the time he trapped a lion between our car and other cars and made them uncomfortable enough to move. We got great photos but I would have been happier being more compliant. He also spent lots of the time on the phone.
Our final day was a total mess - two people on our tour were staying an extra night so Jocky gave them the guide and the car and tried and failed to organise other transport for 5 of us. We ended up taking a total of 4 other cars, with limited communication and my bag was left behind in one of the transfers and needed to be retrieved which meant the whole trip back to Nairobi took a few extra hours.

Ben showed us all we want to see and bring us everytime in the best position. Best guide ever!!!
5/5

Communication was good, the driver was always punctual, and we felt safe at all times. There was plenty of water, and it was in original sealed packaging. We really got our money's worth—it was a fantastic safari where, in addition to the Big Five, we saw many, many other animals. Many thanks to Ben from Jocky Tours.

Solid but too hasty about the itinerary. Frequently rushing us to the car by waving and clapping han
2/5

The itinerary is overall fine since we are in the budget group. In Chinese old saying “一分钱一分货” the overall accommodation and food is just fine for budget group. I won’t complain about that. It’s the attitude that I want to complain about.

This is a lifetime experience for both of us. We wanted to enjoy. But the guide has been kind of indifferent about this. When we were taking pictures, he kept rushing by waving us and clapping hands. We didn’t have the chance to take some photos we liked. The photos with qilimanjaro and photos with some animals. He kept scrolling on his phone while game driving, watching local news. He was not keen about finding animals for us just follow the fixed route.
As in the same group, we two and other Indian friends were picked up earliest and dropped off the lastest. I don’t know if it’s discrimination against Asians or what. I didn’t want to pay the tips at the end, but since the guide asked I paid 100usd for me and my girlfriend for the 7days trip. I paid it not for recognition but just because he asked.

Besides maybe it’s budget group Some of The workers in hotels are not so friendly either. In Naivasha. I found two bags in our room which were ours. I asked the manager. They said that they have to switch our room from double room to twin room since the original room was others without even apologising, my girlfriend was quite sad about this. In the camp at ambosali. This happened again but in a worse way. The manager waved me over and kept me waiting until he finished talking on the phone than than me they have to change our room. I’m okay with the reason because again this is a budget group. But I don’t like the way I am treated

I will come to Africa again. But not Kenya maybe some where else

I guess the lesson is choose your guide if possible and be ware of the bad attitude

Wild World, Warm Friends, and Wide Memories to Keep
5/5

At first, I didn't feel so good about it. The place I had originally booked was overbooked, and they told me I had to stay at a different lodge. On top of that, even though they offered to upgrade me to a better resort by splitting the three-night stay into a one-night and a two-night stay, I really didn't want the hassle of moving around for such a short trip. However, thanks to Jocky working tenaciously for a full hour to sort it all out, I was finally able to stay at the exact lodge I originally booked, in a twin room at Mara Sopa Lodge. I really want to thank Jocky for their hard work.
That said, the drive to the Masai Mara was quite rugged and tough, taking a grueling five to six hours by car. But even before we reached the Sopa Lodge, our driver and guide, Caxstone, asked us to do a game drive on the way, and that was the moment everything changed. The Masai Mara National Reserve was a whole new world, and the sunset glowing over elephants, giraffes, buffaloes—and what else was there?—lions and cheetahs was breathtakingly magical.
The next day and the day after that, Caxstone, despite looking exhausted with a tired face, was endlessly dedicated to finding animals we hadn't seen yet. He always smiled, and whenever we spotted new animals, his joy was as genuine as ours, making him even more eager to track down others. He even gave us the gift of an unforgettable breakfast—I wasn't sure if I was even allowed to talk about this, or if it was entirely legal, but having breakfast set up right out in the middle of the vast, untouched Masai Mara, under the cool shade of a tree with the warm sunlight spilling around us, and sipping morning coffee in that absolute serenity was a feeling I will never, ever forget.
The Masai Mara was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. I am currently on a trip around the world, and so far I've been to Europe, Egypt, Seychelles, and Kenya. Of course, even better places might lie ahead, but as of now, the Masai Mara has been the absolute best. I will never forget it, and if possible, I will come back. I'll contact you then.
