An incredible trip!
We were referred to African Ubuntu Safaris by a friend who worked in the travel industry.
We are Victorian based and dealt with Cuan over email and phone. We initially rang Cuan and explained what areas we wanted to go to in Africa, experiences we wanted to have, and dates we had to work with. Within 2-3 days Cuan had emailed back 3 Itinerary options, and within about a week, we had flights, accommodation and all transfers booked.
We only booked 6-8 weeks out from going and wanted to see a lot in 2 weeks. Somehow, Cuan orchestrated packing in everything we asked for. We managed to get fabulous accommodation (hotel and lodges) across Victoria Falls, and a combination of fishing, water and land safaris across Zimbabwe, Namibia, and the Delta and Salt Pans in Botswana, which all offered unique & different experiences.
Due to our short travel window of 2 weeks inclusive of travel from Australia, we had a combination of 2 & 3 nights stays to fit everything in. We knew our trip was going to be fast, however we wish we planned a few extra days of travel, so we could have stayed 3 nights at the water & fishing lodge as there was so much to do (and we left some Tiger Fish out there!), and 4 nights in the Delta. If you have more than 2 weeks, we would recommend 3 nights (+) at most lodges.
One of us is a very detailed person, and Cuan answered all our questions via phone/email, was incredibly responsive, and they also have an office on the ground in South Africa if you need help resolving any issues you may have on your trip.
We were very hesitant to outsource to an agent, however this is the type of trip you need to outsource. I highly recommended for travellers seeking no stress travel as everything on our 14-day trip was planned perfectly for us! We just had to turn up. I would recommend Cuan from African Ubuntu Safaris to family and friends and would use again when we go back!

We loved the kindness of the staff and the areas were very nice.
Having just one week I would have preferred going safari straight away and then having time to relax 4 full days in Zanzibar.

Best experience ever
We are very grateful to have our first experience in Africa with the Safari GOAT company. They are a reliable, responsible company and very attentive to their clients. We spent two weeks with our guide Frank. He is a guide with a lot of experience, knows Spanish, extensive knowledge of animals, culture and history. Thanks to him we saw many animals, he was very respectful, kind and we felt safe. If a problem arose, he solved it. Someone who can solve problems is very important to be able to continue with the day's activities. Eddie and the Safari GOAT team in their offices were always attentive to our calls, changes or requests in our program. These things cost, regardless of operator, what is for me a lot of money. That said when I considered the time and cost and aggravation of organizing and conducting such a tour independently, it seemed that I was paying a fairly reasonable premium for having everything taken care of for me. Having a driver who is familiar with the territory and the driving culture was much more efficient, and probably safer than me driving myself.
Tour:
My two days in Nyungwe were fantastic, I got to hike several trails and see the highlights. However, I must point out the value brought by my NH guide, Emanuel: He really took care of everything: Driving, finding good places to eat, knowing where to take good photos even spotting wildlife along the way. He was consistent and reliable throughout. Beyond that, he is an educated and thoughtful individual who was able to answer my many questions, without fail. He really made the trip for me.

o “Jonathon” at Kibo Safari Camp – who went out of his way to make us feel at home, always greeting us with a smile, even joining us to watch the Euro 2024 semi final. And “Steve” at the restaurant, who looked after us so well;
o “Lucian” at the Salt Licks Game Lodge who took us on a night safari, sharing his knowledge with warmth and enthusiasm;
o “Hamisi” and the head chef the Diani Sea Resort who organised an incredible celebratory seafood feast for Ben’s 16th Birthday, serenaded with traditional dancers by the beach, a night not to be forgotten;
o “Benson” our taxi driver to the Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park where we saw green turtles and ate the most incredible meal on Wasini Island.
And last but not least yourself Rachael, from adapting our schedule to meet every request, smoothing over my visa without drama before we set off, organising Ben's spectacular birthday meal, and having the initiative to recommend a final visit to Giraffe sanctuary and a meal at Carnivores when we had a few spares hours before our return flight. Exceptional attention to detail.
The hotels and food was first class throughout, the Jeep was modern and clean and the routes taken were scenic and informative. But the overriding memory for us is the WONDERFUL PEOPLE that make Kenya such a special place, and yours a special team.
I have sent you a few photos via Whatsapp which you are welcome to use as necessary – again, we could flood you with so many memories, but hopefully the few we do send will give you an impression of the happiness you provided.
