Unique insights on Kenya
My friends and I took The Masai Magic day trip with One Horizon in July of 2019. We were headed home from a week on safari when our flight was cancelled and we ended up with an unexpected extra day in Nairobi.
One Horizon was able to put together a day trip for our small group on very short notice.
Our day with One Horizon allowed us to meet a Masai family and to learn about traditional Masai practices. We had fun learning beading, singing, and dancing! But it also allowed us to connect with Kenyans on a personal level. We had the privilege of hearing Agnes's difficult personal story as the sixth wife of an elderly Masai man, learnt about Rispa's struggles to gain a measure of respect and independence, and learnt about One Horizon's work to empower Kenyan women.
Caroline, the One Horizon staffer who led our group, made sure that we were comfortable and that we had our needs met on the trip itself. She also gave us insights into the daily life and daily struggles of Kenyans.
Highly recommended.

One Horizon Africa Should be On Your Itinerary! Fantastic experience!
This meaningful and heartfelt experience should be a integral part of any traveler's Nairobi itinerary. Spending a half day with the beautiful and resilient grandmothers who've benefited from the generosity and ingenuity of One Horizon was an eye opening experience and also very fun, especially making chapati and feeding pigs. Even the short drive out to their village was unique escape from the huddle and bussle of the Nairobi cityscape, seeing the many businesses and farms of hardworking Kenyans. Special recognition goes to facilitator Caroline who was a phenomenal translator and guide. Fantastic!!

Perfect safari
We booked the safari a week before our departure in March 2020. Very good contact with Nelson. When we got to Arusha, the taxi was waiting for us. We slept the first night in the Nelson hotel. We were able to leave our suitcase with Nelson during our 4 day safari. We did the 4-day tent safari with our driver Balthazar. We were delighted with our safari. We recommend Nelson 100%! We would like to thank him and Balthazar again. We hope to be able to return very soon. Take care of yourself !

Amazing
Incredible wildlife experience.
Samburu was the highlight.
Some poor service from our tour company, African Breeze - including downgrading hotels without warning to save themselves money (we were not offered a refund).

Eye opening
The tour was excellent the tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The bus driver was very good and patient. The tour was a highlight of our trip to Africa.

From picking up to dropping to the airport and changing itineraries, the tour was well managed.
I like how the tour guide/driver was so knowledgeable. He put effort each day of the tour. Not letting me back to the accommodation without satisfaction of each plan of the day. Overall, I enjoyed it.

Fantastic Journey
Well above and beyond our expectations! Even with the Coronavirus crisis developing, we were able to thoroughly enjoy Cape Town and the Dulini reserve. Accommodations were wonderful, tours exciting, and tour guides/trackers very entertaining! You will be blown away by the amount and diversity of animals you encounter. Food and service-first class!

Farm to Feast
The day was spent with 5 women in the Grandmother's Project. They shared how the program worked and how it had made a difference in their lives. We prepared lunch together and a couple of the grandmothers shared their personal stories. While the program was life-changing for them, learning about it was also life-changing for me.

Perfectly organised warm welcome into the heart of Kenyan society
Although most of our trip was organised by our tour operator the communication in the days beforehand was smooth. One Horizon was flexible, understood the needs of our toddlers and adjusted the tour however needed during the day. Not only insight was gained into the specific project we visited (the grandmothers “Go Granny, go”, which is definitely a recommendation with young kids), we also got a glimpse of life in Kenya. One Horizon is a professional operator with high service level but it doesn’t lose sight of the warm, welcoming spirit we know from our travels in Africa. The day definitely lived up to our expectations. Our toddlers are still talking about it and will not forget this easily which is what travelling is all about for us: making good memories. And what better way to do this than also supporting communities at the same time?
