7 day Nortern Tanzania Safari

We used Savannah Explorers for a 7 day safari and could not be any happier with our experience! Our guide Junior was friendly and incredibly knowledgeable, but most importantly he has an unreal ability to spot animals (which is the whole point of the safari!) The whole thing was amazing but I’ll highlight our first full day in the Serengeti in particular-Junior asked if we would mind a slightly longer drive to be closer to the Migration, and of course we said yes. Even though it was a longer and harder drive for him (the roads in the park are challenging) he went out of his way to make sure we had the best day possible. We ended up seeing a pride of lions, more than 10 cheetahs, including a family which is really rare, and another pride of lions in the midst of a giant herd of wildebeest. It felt like we were in a nature documentary. Over the course of the safari we also saw the full Big 5, and way more. As for the company Savannah explorers itself, they were easy to communicate with, the accommodations they put us in were all great (especially Marera View Lodge which doesn’t seem to have a page on here yet but I would HIGHLY recommend) and we felt it was a very good value. This safari was part of our 3 week honeymoon in Tanzania and it was a truly unforgettable experience!!

Perfect in every way. That’s how we would describe the last seven days with Shemeji Safaris. Our guide was knowledgeable, kind, courteous and absolutely brilliant at spotting and identifying the birds and beasts we have seen. He prayed for our safari and boy were his prayers answered! We saw the big five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino. Elephants in abundance and one cheetah and rhino sighting. Two leopard watching experiences and several lion sightings. They were actually more than sightings as we were able to watch them stretch and yawn and go from place to place. Best of all was the time we saw a pride of lions comprising two males, four lionesses and six cubs. It’s hard to describe how beautiful it is to see these amazing creatures in their habitats. Our biggest thrill was seeing thousands and thousands of wildebeest and zebra herds migrating across the Serengeti. We were spellbound and quite emotional, it was so incredible. We also saw bat-eared foxes, two different types of jackal, lots of hippos, mongoose, gazelles, impala, hartebeest, waterbuck, baboons, monkeys, crocodiles and more. Giraffes became so commonplace we stopped photographing them. We were both intrigued by the birds. We saw eagles, kestrels, superb starlings, a kingfisher, stork, bustards, vultures and flamingoes. I think if anything took us most by surprise it was how all the animals coexisted and how often we saw impala and Thompson gazelles mingling with herds of wildebeest and zebra. And surrounded by storks and with other birds happily hitching a ride on any animal that would have them!

Our accommodation has been in tented lodges with bathrooms—all quite basic but spotless and the hospitality of the staff has been very touching. On arriving at our last camp they spotted our muddy sandals and insisted on cleaning them for us, returning them looking like brand new. One night we were in the mountains in Ngorongoro Crater and during dinner we were asked if we would like them to light the wood burning stove for us. It was at 2300 metres altitude and a little chilly so we were very grateful.

There is so much more I could say but this has been the trip of a lifetime.

The places we visited were gorgeous! We did the Safari with Enchanting and James, our guide, was really good. He was very confident about the roads, and give as a lot of information. He made us feel very comfortable during all trip. Edna helped us to choose the itinerary and she was very sensitive with as. Also the accommodation was great. We stayed at Serena in Ngorongoro NP and then in Tending Bush Camps at Serengueti NP. I strongly recommend Enchanting as a excellent company to do the Safari. Hope could do another Safari with them soon.

Overall, better than what you see in pictures and TV unlike other places in the world. Very beautiful scenery, weather excellent for January, and wildlife is more than what one experiences in school, in a zoo, and in media. Safari guide, Joshua, was not only a super-pro in his knowledge of the Serengeti, but a super friendly, funny and interesting personality. Very relatable to those outside of Africa with an excellent combination of book and street smarts.

Fantastic experience, living for few days so close to wild animals in their natural environment.

Our first time to go for a safari, so we did not know what to expect despite all the readings about safari. For the 35th anniversary of our marriage we decided to go on a "luxury" safari to have the best experience possible and we have not been disappointed.
Weather was the right time, no rain during the 5 days of safari, observing the migration of the wilderbeasts (largest migration of mammals on the planet) with its lots of carnivores and other meat-eaters.
The whole trip was planned very professionnally from day#1 to the end, driving on 4 wheel drive by a top-class guide handling both the safe driving, extraordinary knowledge of animals world, professionnal and friendly service attitude. 2 Hotels used as stopover were of excellent quality and the life camp in Serengeti among the animals was just outstanding in terms of confort, food and service, in the middle of nowhere.
Game drives in serengeti, observing the birth on baby wilderbeast, hunting of wilderbeast in daytime by a pride of lions, remains of wilderbeast being fought for by lots of hyenas, all those things that we see only on TV and that we watched live.
Return to Arusha by plane instead of road was just the right thing to do after all these days of thrill.

It was the most beautiful experience of my life :) I feel like I chose the perfect company because I got accurate, detailed information about everything. During my safari it was sunny time, I felt safe with the driver, he was a very good driver, he knew the answer to all my questions. We saw a lot of animals. I saw the 5 big five, it was an incredible feeling. I can recommend it to everyone, National Geographic live :)) The chef of the Planet Reserve company prepared divine food for dinner. The staff was very kind and helpful. And Mudy, the owner of the company, is extremely attentive and careful. It solves any problem, is reliable and honest. Which is rare in these companies. Feel free to look for them if you are looking for a truly exciting safari.

This was my 2nd safari and was looking forward to visiting Serengeti for a long time. Was absolutely blown away by the pristine natural beauty, spread of wildlife and amazing viewing. We were slightly unlucky with unexpected rains on a few days but we saw all the animals including big 5 (though Rhinos were quite far). Highlight for me was Ngorongoro crater, which is an absolute wonder of the world and I hope we preserve it for our future generations. The hotels and lodges were fantastic. The tour guide was OK, not exceptional.

The safari was amazing. Tanzania is a beautiful country. Zohar Safaris arranged a wonderful trip, with great food, accommodations and a very good driver. Seeing all the african animals in person was beyond expectations. Would totally recommend Tanzania as a travel destination for a once in a lifetime trip!

As far as Safaris go... fabulous. We saw the big 5 and most of them really close we almost could touch the animals So peaceful and beautiful

Excellent driver/guide

The accommodations .. another story. Very basic in comparison to Kenya
Spring lands Hotel is no more than a YMCA hostel in fact the first room we were given resembled a prison cell. The stench from the drain in the bathroom was like sewers. The second room was a slight improvement but we hardly slept. Not a good start to our trip that was not cheap. The second accommodation was an upgrade to coffee Lodge. Very nice. Serengeti Lodge was an upgrade but we had no hot water for 2 nights. It was also very cold. No attempt to give us hot water or keep us warm. No hot water bottles or lit fires
High field Hotel was like a cheap motel so complained and we were driven about 10 miles to Endora Lodge which was very nice
The upgrades that we had were what we would have expected anyway. The packed lunches were a disgrace. Full of carbodydrates I.e cake biscuits bread.. jam one day .. really? The occasional minute chicken drumstick and I mean minute. Hard boiled egg after eggs for breakfast .. hardly lunch We got children’s carton drinks a couple of times one being tamarind juice which was not to many people s taste
Very disappointed at this part
