Wildlife viewing in Kirindy Forest is best in October and November. This is when fossas mate (usually beginning in late October), which is one of Madagascar’s true wildlife highlights. Fossas can be seen year-round. Although it’s possible to visit during the rest of the year, December to March can be uncomfortably wet, hot and humid. Malagasy giant rats hibernate in the Dry season (April to October) and tenrecs are mostly seen only after rain.

The park gets relatively busy in July and August (plus December)

The access road to the reserve might be in poor condition after heavy rain
