The organisation was very efficient; communication was great during the planning phase and they have been able to accommodate every request.
The safari guide (Immanuel) was very knowledgeable and friendly.
The meals provided were all very delicious (and very generous portions too).

Best Safari Ever!
5/5

We had the most amazing time on our safari tour, Lion King looked after my boyfriend and I ever so well, we felt like royalty! We could not fault anything, it was perfect. Our safari guide Aziz was great and his English was excellent, he even joined in with all our banter which was fab! He was also amazing at his job as a safari guide and every knowledgable about all the wildlife. On our final day we hiked to the first base camp of Kilimanjaro with Saladi who was also amazing! We had such a great experience and would highly recommend Lion King, Aziz & Saladi, thank you all!

Simply more than we could ever have ever expected!
5/5

From day one, to the final drop off at the airport, our safari experience went smoothly and seamlessly. There was never any pressure felt in communicating with Lion King Adventures. Our correspondences and questions throughout setting up our safari and booking procedures were were always helpful and timely answered. Once arriving at the airport we were cheerfully picked up and driven to our lodging for the evening. Our Lion King Adventures guide and driver for the next 9 days was Salahe. What a knowledgeable, kind and good humoured fellow. We always felt safe as we drove through the many National Parks. The safari lodges and tented camps and were all exceptional as was the food. Everyday was an adventure with amazing landscapes, incredibly beautiful wildlife that was often peaceful but at times raw and savage. Top value for the money! Truly our trip of a lifetime, made possible by Lion King Adventures.

An amazing experience!
5/5

My husband and I spent the first part of our honeymoon on a 7 day safari. It was an incredible experience! We saw everything we wanted to see and much much more. Our expectations were far exceeded. Booking through Lion King was a very easy experience. All of our questions were promptly answered, and they provided us with all the information needed- from the visas, to a packing list, to a tipping chart, everything was already organized for us. Our guide was amazing. We felt so lucky that we had a guide who was fun to talk to, full of personality, and so knowledgable on all the animals and plants we saw. We can't recommend Lion King Adventures enough!

Perfect tour
5/5

This was our first visit to Tanzania. Our schedule got changed due to a canceled flight, and Lion King accompanied those changes. Our guide, Gilbert, was the best. He answered all of our questions and adapted to make sure he highlighted what we were most interested in. We saw all of the big 5! Gilbert was also very prompt and personable. Would recommend 100%. Our drivers to/from airport, Bright & Tumaini, were also great.

It doesn’t get any better than Lion King Adventures.
5/5

There are not enough words to describe this safari, you have to experience it for yourself.
With over 1,000 tours companies, how do you know which one to choose? Months and months of research lead us to select Lion King Adventures. Then you need to decide which safari is right for you. We knew witnessing the Migration was number one on our list so we chose the 9-day safari. Then came time for the initial direct contact to begin. Edward, the tour company owner, was quick to respond and answered any and all questions. His communication from beginning to end was 100% and always very friendly and caring. There’s a lot of mixed information out there regarding visas, vaccines, etc. After Edward took care of our initial booking details, he handed us over to Rose. Amazing Rose! She either answered our questions or steered us in the right direction for correct information.
Now, the adventure began. We landed in Kilimanjaro where we were met by our driver. After a very long flight from the US and an hour drive to Arusha, we settled in to our first night at Ilboru Lodge. It was fun to sit at the little outside bar area and talk to others that just came off safari. They were full of stories!
The next morning we met our guide Yusuph that would be with us the remainder of our safari. We quickly loaded up our baggage and headed out to the bush. Beginning the very first day, we were in awe of what we were experiencing. One exciting day lead to another, even more special and jaw-dropping than the day before. We kept asking ourselves how it could possible get any better, but it did. Each morning we were met by Yusuph during breakfast. It was a great time to relax and get to know him. He also joined us at dinner and went over the next day itinerary. Lunches were always out in the bush, either under a tree with a spectacular view or a very nice picnic area with restrooms. Our lunches were delicious and we had plenty of beverages whether we felt like beer, wine, soda, or water.
We continued on every day to a new safari lodge or bush camp. Each location was different and so inviting. The friendliness and helpfulness of each and every place was overwhelming. We learned a little Swahili that Yusuph practiced with us while driving. It was fun to be able to greet our hosts and thank them in their native language.
When out on safari each day there were main roads (all dirt) that lead to lesser roads. They refer to these lesser roads as a game drive. We sometimes drove for hours without seeing another vehicle. We literally cannot express the number of animals we saw, and saw close up. Yusuph was a cautious and safe driver, all at the same time, spotting something we didn’t see the day before. The photos will tell the story of what we saw.
Finally, we witnessed two migrations. This was an incredible sight to behold and quite emotional as we’ve dreamed about this for so many years and now we were there! Sometimes you have to wait awhile to see if a herd is going to get up their nerve to cross the crocodile infested river. Once they start, it’s an unbelievable thing to watch. Yusuph was a pro at putting us right on a great view point so we could capture great video and photos.
We left with our hearts full, and a love for Africa that will be with us forever. If you’re thinking about going to Africa, don’t wait! Start here with Lion King Adventures where you’re guaranteed a most memorable experience.

Tips:
Bring an electricity plug adapter for Tanzania.
Malaria Pills; not for us. They actually made us very sick so we stopped taking them.
Bug spray to spray clothes and we found Sawyer Picaridin Insect Repellant worked great for face and any exposed areas. 14-hour protection.
Bring face cloths.
Super thin lightweight pants and shirts that can be rinsed out and dried overnight.
Safari hat with chin strap.

Excellent Company - Excellent Safari
5/5

I cannot praise Lion King enough. From dealing with Edward and Rose in the office and Ozzie our guide/driver on the safari, the service was brilliant.

Booking was simple and efficient and everything went smoothly, even when we missed our connecting flight due to delays, a quick whatsapp message to Rose in the early hours of the morning was answered promptly with confirmation that our transfer would be there when we eventually arrived.

The tour itself was brilliant, Ozzie was a great guide, listening to what we hoped to see and reacting to any radio sightings. The days were long and full, the vehicle clean and tidy and the lunchtime meals were lovely and there was plenty of food. Drinks were set out in the morning for us to help ourselves with others in the cooler.

Our mid range accommodation was clean and tidy and as expected. To be honest by the time we got back from safari it was dinner, shower and do it all again the next day!

We were very lucky to see the big 5 and quite a lot of lions on our trip. I know this is not always the case. We visited all the parks but the Serengeti is definitely something special.

8 Day Camping Spectacular Serengeti Migration
5/5

We had an amazing safari with our guide Steven (Mayawalla) and chef Kareem. The office staff in Lion King Adventures, especially Pendo were excellent in communication and arranging every detail. First stop was Tarangire National Park - saw so many elephants and beautiful landscape of baobabs and rolling hills. Steve was a very skilled driver and has many years of experience working as a safari guide. He shared his local knowledge and explained about every animal, plant and interesting location we saw. Our first campsite was Panorama Safari Camp - stayed in comfortable concrete igloos. Our chef Kareem prepared delicious, local food with a new dish every day. He even baked his own bread that was delicious with soup. Everyday for lunch we had a full lunchbox freshly prepared that morning.

We stayed in tent campsites in Serengeti National Park. The night sounds of the Serengeti were unforgettable - we heard hyenas, leopard, jackals. We spotted buffaloes, giraffes, elephants, dikdiks, marabou storks, jackals, and hyenas from our campsite. Facilities at the campsite were clean and well maintained - a cold shower was appreciated at the end of the day. Serengeti is beyond words - vast plains with millions of animals grazing. Saw so many lions - witnessed a buffalo charge a family of lions and watched dozens of lions spring out of hiding in the tall grass to run away. Early morning game drive, two lionesses resting in the swaying, golden grass gazing silently at the horizon - reminiscing a primal memory in the human consciousness. Leopard resting on a tree branch - the only movement a flick of a hanging tail. Evening lioness hunt. Silent predator patiently stalking prey.

Our guide found every hiding feline. We watched two cheetahs eating a fresh kill in the distance. With the advice of our guide, we waited and the two cheetahs crossed the road next to our vehicle to rest in the shade of a tree. We also saw a mama cheetah with 2 babies. Everyday was something new and incredible. Beautiful sunrise and sunset everyday and feeling the primal energy of the Serengeti. Serengeti national park and Ngorongoro conservation area form a huge expanse of wilderness. Much appreciate Tanzania and its people for taking care of this treasure for the world.

Next, we camped in Ngorongoro highlands - enjoyed the cool nighttime temperatures. Buffaloes and zebras wandering through the campsite. The descent down the lush green crater wall into the crater was otherworldly. Down in the crater - grasslands, wetlands full of birds and hippos. Every scene ringed by the green hills of the crater walls.

We ended our trip at Lake Manyara park - watched a family of playful elephants feed and then disappear into the thick jungle. Thank you Lion King Adventures for an unforgettable trip! We are already planning to come back with our 2 kids.
