A Fantastic African Safari Off The Beaten Path
5/5

What an incredible journey we had in Tanzania! Our adventure began with three days in Selous Game Reserve, where we had the privilege of exploring one of Africa’s largest and most untouched wildlife sanctuaries. From the moment we arrived, we were immersed in the raw beauty of the reserve. Our guide, Endrick, was exceptional, his deep knowledge of the environment and its wildlife made every moment memorable. He brought the landscape to life, helping us spot animals we might have otherwise missed and sharing fascinating facts about the local flora and fauna.
We spent a day cruising the Rufiji River, where we were captivated by the waters and the variety of wildlife that lined its banks. The boat ride gave us a unique perspective, allowing us to spot hippos, crocodiles, and a wide range of bird species. As we drifted along, we were also able to observe the lush vegetation that thrives around the river, adding another layer to the richness of the experience. The river was teeming with life, from the birds soaring overhead to the ripples in the water as we passed by grazing elephants. It was one of those moments that felt almost unreal, like something straight out of a nature documentary.
In the Miombo Woodlands, we discovered another side of Selous, with dense, forested areas filled with towering trees, vines, and a diverse range of plant species. The quiet of the woods was only interrupted by the occasional rustling of animals in the underbrush or the distant call of birds. The woods are home to many of the reserve's wildlife, and we had the chance to spot elusive creatures like leopards and wild dogs. The mix of open savannah and dense forest created a stunning contrast and made our time in Selous feel like an ever-evolving adventure.
After our time in Selous, we headed to Mikumi National Park for two more days of exploration. Mikumi was a perfect follow-up, offering a different yet equally rewarding landscape. The park is known for its incredible diversity, and we were amazed by the variety of animals we saw, from herds of elephants and wildebeest to the majestic lions lounging in the sun. The vast open plains of Mikumi felt endless, and we spent hours driving through the park, always spotting something new, whether it was a huge buffalo herd, zebras herds, a family of giraffes grazing or a pair of cheetahs resting in the grass.
The rich diversity of flora and fauna we encountered during our time in Selous and Mikumi was truly awe-inspiring. From the lush riverbanks of the Rufiji River to the woodlands and plains of Mikumi, every moment felt like an exploration of nature’s finest work. We were completely immersed in the beauty of Tanzania’s wilderness, and thanks to Endrick’s guidance and the seamless arrangements of our tour, we left with a deep appreciation for the wonders of these unique ecosystems.
Every day was filled with wonder, and we are incredibly grateful for all the amazing moments we experienced on this unforgettable journey.

Amazing experience!
5/5

From the very start Sergenti silence was excellent in their communication which was very important to us. We had a lot of questions and they answered them all very quickly and were very reliable. Once we arrived they helped us get to the safari and we were picked up from the hotel by Reggie. He was our guide throughout the safari and went above and beyond explaining animals, customs and cultural questions we had. He even got up early to get our adult daughter to her balloon ride since the balloon company could not find our hotel. Reggie translated for us when we needed and was available to help us every step of the way! He was kind and compassionate and when our daughter had a panic attack over a swarm of bugs.our trio would not have been they same without him, thank you Reggie!

All of our accommodations were great but the best one was one Serengeti Silence owns in the Central Serengeti. It was by far the best tent camping experience we had, the staff there was so kind and they met the needs of the food allergies for our group better than any other hotel experience we had. The tents exceeded our expectations and the setting is spectacular.

Of the Big Five we spotted Four but it was not for lack on trying on Reggie’s part. He knew so much about where the animals live or hide and could spot one from so far away it was impressive. The guides also all talk on the CB in the park which helps a lot since we could go to here others were seeing animals. December is baby season here in Tanzania and it was the best time to come in our opinion!

Overall we highly recommend Serengeti Silence! They helped make our trip here very special and one we will remember for the rest of our lives.

Kilimanjaro Trek
5/5

Even though I didn't summit, the mountain support crew were all amazing, whenever I think about Kilimanjaro again I'll think of not just the scenery, but one of the guides who carried my backpack when I was struggling, and others who have helped me getting back to lower altitude more quickly.

Fantastic
5/5

What a fantastic trip we had through Uganda! Sander was very attentive to our wishes and suggested wonderful excursions. Trekking with chimpanzees in an area still relatively undiscovered by tourists, mountain biking through a park, boat trips—we were constantly surprised, and this was also true for the beautiful accommodations where we stayed. And then there was Paul, the driver/guide who traveled with us for 19 days. He has such a passion for the country and its people. We could ask him anything about the culture and customs; he's incredibly knowledgeable about animals and knew all the birds by name. He's a fountain of knowledge and a very pleasant person to be with, and an incredibly good driver.

5/5

We travelled as a family; two adults, two grown up children and a 4-year old.
Manka Safaris planned a wonderful safari for us, we all had a great experience! The 4-year old still talks about it :D
The driver was experienced and had a lot of knowledge about animals, nature and culture. The communication was really good and easy, and we will recommend Manka Safaris from the bottom of our hearts. Can't wait to travel with you again!

Very knowledgeable, kind and reliable.
5/5

I had an unforgettable 5-day safari with Lobo Africa, exploring Tarangire, Ngorongoro, and Serengeti. Every day offered amazing wildlife experiences that went beyond what I imagined. Our guide, Sam, was incredibly knowledgeable and made the whole trip even more enjoyable. A major highlight was witnessing the Great Migration up close. With cozy accommodations and top-notch service, the entire journey felt exceptional. I highly recommend this safari to anyone looking to experience the best of Tanzania.

Even Better Than We Could Have Imagined!
5/5

Our Kenya trip with Shian Tours & Travel was nothing short of magical. From the moment we got in touch, the team was incredibly attentive, professional, and genuinely passionate about creating the perfect safari experience for us. Special thanks to Ms. Young, whose seamless communication, warmth, and attention to every detail made us feel completely taken care of—even before we set foot in Kenya!

The safari itself was breathtaking. Our driver was amazing—safe, knowledgeable, and with an uncanny ability to spot wildlife that left us in awe every single day. The itinerary struck the perfect balance between adventure, relaxation, and comfort, with thoughtfully chosen lodges that made each night as memorable as the days.

Every moment, from watching the stunning landscapes of Masai Mara to Nakuru, and encountering majestic animals up close, felt like a dream. Shian Tours turned our Kenya safari into a once-in-a-lifetime experience that we will cherish forever. Truly worth every penny—and I can wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone without any hesitation.

Well organised, helpful and knowledgable local operator
5/5

Last minute trip to Kigali and we added an extra 3 days to do a 2 night safari in Akagera at the last minute. Lion Safaris responded well, answered our questions and took the last minute booking as an opportunity to offer good value (unlike other organisers). They are an operator and not just subcontracting to others which can sometimes lead to problems.

They suggested a night at Kerenge bush lodge (much more luxurious than it sounds) and a night at Ruzizi Lodge which would allow us to see more of the park. This worked out very well with the north part being more savannah and the south bush and scrub.

Their driver picked us up in Kigali with their vehicle, a Toyota pop-top (essential) and stayed with us in Kigali until late on our third day as we had a late flight out. We felt very safe and his knowledge of the park and the animals greatly added to the trip. They also arranged a boat trip and a night safari, both excellent.

Lion Safaris are a highly recommended local operator.
