Kenya – a country and its people that are well worth getting to know

We thought Kenya and its people were wonderful. We were fascinated by the people’s calm demeanour. The landscape was breathtaking. We had booked a safari in the Maasai Mara, Lake Naivasha und Lake Nakuru including Hells Gate. We were pleasantly surprised by the vastness, the high mountains and the fact that the Maasai Mara lies at over 2,000 metres above sea level. We’d always thought Kenya was flat and hot, but we had very pleasant temperatures of around 30 degrees. We saw the Big Five and our driver was brilliant. The staff at all the hotels were very friendly and always helpful and the hotels themselves were all very clean and well-maintained.
A tip for anyone planning to visit Kenya: book an Uber, or take a tuk-tuk or motorbike, but don’t drive a car yourself. The traffic in the cities is not for the faint-hearted, and the roads are often in poor condition.

Exceeded every expectation that I had!

I have always dreamed of going on a safari in Africa, but thought it would be unattainable. I started researching some tour operators and found that the cost was not as much as I thought! We chose a company with mid-range accommodations and arrived in Kenya not really knowing what was in store for us! Wow!!! That's the best word to describe our experience! Each day and each park was a whole new experience for us! We saw so many animals and seeing them in the wild was just amazing!! The lodges in Kenya were wonderful! We stayed in Sopa lodges all but one night and the service, food and accommodations were way above mid-range!! The last night we stayed in a "tent". What a tent!! It was beautiful and they treated us like royalty!! Everyone we met in Kenya was so nice! Do beware of shopping! Shopping was stressful! No prices on anything and they have an eye for "rich" Americans. I do NOT like to haggle! I wish we had waited and bought all of our souvenirs
Read more at the airport, or the Sopa lodges had gift shops with prices. That was the only negative of our whole trip. We went in April and the weather was beautiful the whole time! We were lucky, no rain. I highly recommend a boat ride and bush walk. What a great experience!
I can not recommend a safari trip to Kenya more! We can not wait to visit again!

This safari was incredible! It really exceeded our expectations. It was supposed to be a group safari, but in the end, it was just my two friends and me. The accommodations were great, the food was delicious, and the service was impeccable.

Upon arriving at the Governors camp, I literally wept from the immense and marvelous beauty. As I walked to the deck, looking over the Mara river, I was surrounded by mongoose, a warthog, and a black faced monkey, as I looked onward to the many hippopotamus. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity that I am eternally grateful for. Thank you.

We enjoyed our 2 day Safari in Tsavo East. Our driver did an excellent job finding the interesting locations from which we observed wild life
Highly recommended

Amboseli Wildlife Park

We were very pleased with the support we received from Esther of Cherish Safaris Kenya when making our booking for the three day, two night safari to Amboseli National Park. Francis met us as arranged at the Namunga Border crossing (between Kenya and Tanzania) and then drove us through the Park for a couple of hours wildlife viewing.
There were eight of us and the one Toyota safari vehicle was cramped, and we should have booked two vehicles and drivers.
The Sopa lodge in Amboseli was great, the rooms were comfortable, the staff very friendly and helpful and the choice and quality of food at the restaurant for breakfast and dinner were excellent, as were the facilities such as the pool, the massage spa, the Hemingway bar and indoor and outdoor bar areas, and gardens.
We had been travelling by road in Southern and Eastern African countries for four weeks and had already been to a number of large wildlife parks, and I’d suggest the wildlife viewing in Amboseli was much
Read more sparser than in Tanzania, and the Serengeti and I think we would have been happier had we travelled further North in Kenya to the Masai Mara National Park. Maybe next time.
The Amboseli NP suited our travel arrangements as we had four days to fill in between leaving the Rift valley in Tanzania and flying from Nairobi to Mauritius. We had already been spoilt for Wildlife and so for our needs the Cherish Safari was perfect.
After leaving Amboseli, Esther had booked us a night’s accommodation in the Panafric Hotel in Nairobi which was perfect for our last night before leaving Kenya Thank you Esther and Francis.
