We went with Eastern Sun Tours on a 6 day / 5 night camping safari. Why would anybody want to pay for accommodation above camping? We visited Lake Manyara, Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Serengeti. Nothing was too much trouble either before or during the trip and the service was first class. Well done Simon and Mercy you have a fantastic team.

Tanzania is by far my favorite country in Africa, and that's largely because I've spent the most time there on safari. It has such a great variety of landscapes and wildlife, and is definitely a great safari destination. Transportation makes it somewhat easy to get to various areas of this large country, and if you plan it out right, can hit a number of great spots within a reasonable budget. The locals are very warm and friendly, and most of the safari companies I've worked & booked with have been extremely accommodating. This is classic Africa to be sure, and you will definitely get to experience some of the "bush life" in several of the more remote parks like Ruaha. Because of the popularity of these destinations, some of the trips can be a little on the pricier side, but if you do some research, and don't mind a little self-sufficiency, you can plan an amazing trip.

We used Awaken to Africa on both of our trips to Tanzania. Our guide David is one of the best we have ever used. He ensures we see the all the wildlife and Grace makes sure our accommodations are top notch. Once you go to Tanzania to see the migration you will want to go back every year.

Wildlife, the big animals, are almost easy to see. It's not 100% guaranteed, but I think it shouldn't be that way. Tansania is a peaceful country. You don't have to be afraid all the time.

From all the national parks I visited in Africa (been to Kenya, Tanzania, South-Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Malawi, Zambia, Uganda), Selous Game Reserve is together with South Luangwa (Zambia) the best seen so far.

Tanzania is absolutely great (probably the best) safari destination. I have not been around Africa a lot but heard more than once from various people who travelled with me and visited many more African countries than I did that there is hardly any other place out there that has such a mix of natural beauty combined with HUGE variety of wildlife, great service and people friendliness, relaxed atmosphere and fantastic overall experience. To that I can only agree.

Dar es Salaam was our first destination in Tanzania. The cultural experience was wonderful. Seeing the Indian Ocean was a bonus. The Ngorogoro Crater is a spectacle to see alone. The first glimpse over the edge is one of many sights that I will never forget. The wildlife: I do not know how you can describe the sights and sounds of Africa. The Crater offered outstanding opportunities for photography.
The Serengeti:The openness and amount of life was more than I could have imagined. Our hot air balloon ride overwhelmed me. I was humbled and blessed to experience.

Unspoiled beauty

It was an amazing trip, I only wish that it was longer, I would've liked to spend more time at the Ngorongoro crater. It was definitely the highlight of this trip, a unique ecosystem that's been preserved in it's present state for many years. We were fortunate to see a pack of hyenas hunt wildebeest, that's not something I'd ever expected to see. At Lake Manyara we were able to observe several families of elephants, they walked right alongside our jeep, so close that we could see their eyelashes. Lake Manyara is also a birder's paradise and a home of great many baboons. One word of caution - it was very dusty, bring a mask or a bandanna to tie around your face, and drink lots of water.
