Ngorongoro crater is really the most amazing landscape we have ever seen. Tents and lodges were comfortable and well organized. Wildlife is everywhere and great. Fortunately very limited rain that slowed down the trip during first days. Migration in Serengeti is a moving scenery.

Magic 5 days 4 nights lodge safari with AAA Express Adventures
Overall rating
5/5

Based on the great reviews on Tripadvisor and on Safaribooking homepages I contacted AAA Express Adventures 3-4 months before a private Christmas-safari for 4 adults from Arusha, Tanzania and everything was 100% from the first contact with the owner Jalala Ndosa. Quick and correct response to every question on the email. Excellent flexibility according to our requests.

A safari is perhaps one of the most expensive trips you make but considering the standard of everything that was delivered the price was absolutely reasonable when compared to other companies in Arusha and much lower than in you book via a travel agency back home. The initial payment was lower (20% of total) than what I could find at other companies and was made with banktransfer with no problems. Recieved an email after 4 days confirming that initial payment was OK. Did not want to bring a lot of cash (in dollars) on our pre-safari trip to Zanzibar and again a message was recieved just a few days after visiting my own bank that everything was OK.

A special comment on payment: We are used to pay with credit cards but sending substantial sums with banktransfer with virtually "no insurance" is of course a scary business. I contacted the company that runs Safaribookings homepage where AAA Express i registred and they informed me that this is the common practise and in the few cases that there had been any diagreements between a company and a customer they had always solved the problem. They also checked the "record" of AAA Express Adventures and could see that they did not have a single complaint since they were registered on the homepage. That information made me feel very comfortable.

From the moment we landed at Kilimanjaro Airport everything was exactly as promised with prefect timing. Transfer to hotel before safari was on time. Our excellent driver/guide Steven waited outside the hotel lobby next morning as agreed on. The Safari in it self was magic. Steven must be one the best guides in the area and has more than 20 years of experience of everything that has to do with the history of the National Parks (Lake Manyara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro and the rest), the animals, the tribes and everything else. He was absolutely outstanding. And a real caracter. He could virtually "smell animals". From one moment to the other he just turned the wheel of the vehicle and up in the tree was a family of the famous tree climbing lions in Lake Manyara. One the sometimes muddy roads of Serengeti when lots of vehicles got stuck Steven took us safely to our lodge. When there was a long line to check in he arranged VIP-treatment and everything was ready in a few minutes. And the best with a safari guide, he just cannot stop looking for animals. On our trip back to Arusha after the safari he stepped on the brakes on main road because he spotted elephants and giraffes in a plantation. With Steven as a guide we saw everything we had expected and more. If I do another safari I will definitely ask for Steven. The bottom line is that from our point of view AAA Express Adventure was very serious, reliable and delivered what they had promised and att a very reasonable cost. I will not hesitate to use them again.

Great safari in unique parks

We had a great safari in Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro. Lovely days in beautiful, green (!) parks full of wildlife. Good guide Felix made sure we saw all animals on our list and chef Aluti cooked great food, both at Savannah. Explorers, which we booked ourselves through this site, worked out super! Camping in Serengeti these days is sth different though, 20 tents and dining in a large cement block and taking showers. But we did have hyenas calling and passing through the campsite at night so we were satisfied in spite of the lack of a secluded logfire.

We went on a 4D/3N safari trip to Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro. Both Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro were great experiences with lots of animals and beautiful nature! Serengeti on the other hand was a bit disappointing in our opinion. Not many animals and the roads were not good. Beautiful nature though.
We chose tented camps which was a different but great experience as well. Close to animals.

We had a wonderful tour throug the Daily Expeditions. The driver Matata is very compitent. Matata has been working for safari many years. Matata can explain everything about animals, knows all the roads in Mikuni safari and he is very frienly. We were one full day in safari and saw all animals except lions. Second day we had time only 1 hour to visit safari. Matata did that during that hour we could see lions in the front of our car. He drives a car very saftly. We have 3 kids with us and even it was a long drive from Dar Es Salam, I never become afraid. At nigt we stay in very nice lounge with swiming pool and good dinner and breakfest. We even saw the Massai Tribe, which was very intresting. We really recommend Daily Expedition.

It was great, especially the El Bakari campsite. I wanted more photos of flowers, birds, butterflies

The items were well presented and Salim had a good command of multiple facts, names of trees, some of the plants, and some of the birds. I would use him again for a guide because he finally understood that my interest wasn't the usual tourist's of the big species but of all of it. The cultural aspect was very well presented. The price was great. I really don't have anything but good things to say except as noted and I suspect they will alter their initial questionnaire to identify those of us with a more intense observation request. Why, in my case? I'm an ecologist, university trained. I will use this group again next time.

Good sightseeing, bad food

4/5

The safari itself was pretty good. We got to see almost all the animals, and camping was very nice. We were given all necessary equipment.

The food on the other hand, was not what we expected. People in our group had various diets/allergies, and these needs were not met. The chef had heard nothing about our requirements although all of us had informed staff about this when we booked the safari. Since he didn't know about allergies and diets, he had not bought the groceries suitable for our diets. It was also difficult to communicate properly with the chef because of the language barrier. He did find a way to cook food that everyone could eat, but it wasn't optimal.
