When travelling in Africa I tend to wear baggy clothes covering most of my body.  Most African countries are at least partly Muslim and the cover is also a good idea against bugs and sunstroke.

I tend to refrain from wearing any jewellery or make-up and I used to have short hair. I spent some time in Masai country and when I needed to find a suitable spot for a toilet visit, I asked one of the women.  She looked at me suspiciously and a heated discussion in her language started up between her and some other women. Eventually, one of the women walked up to me brusquely and groped my breasts with both hands.  Immediately, the tension evaporated and all the women started laughing and looked relieved.  They had established I was a woman and were happy to show me a suitable bush toilet facility.
