It's often said that climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak, can be a life-changing experience and for Sue in the year 2000 this was certainly the case. Not only did she fall in love with Tanzania, but she also discovered a hidden passion for climbing high altitude mountains. Three years later, her desire to see more of the world and to explore more challenging mountains finally overpowered her. She left her job as business manager for a leading London barristers' chambers and took a belated gap year, trekking in Nepal for 3 months and then spending 8 months travelling across Africa. In the process, she trekked to the summits of the other four highest mountains on the continent - Mounts Stanley, Kenya, Meru and Ras Dashen - creating her very own take on Africa's Big Five.

On her travels, she fell in love with the four-legged Big Five too, along with the rest of the continent's fascinating and diverse wildlife. She's since returned numerous times having turned her hand to travel writing. As a passionate advocate of responsible tourism, she is fortunate to have been commissioned to cover exciting new projects like the Batwa Pygmy Experience in Uganda, Gorongosa National Park in Mozambique and a private photographic safari concession deep in the heart of the Southern Selous in Tanzania. It's not only Africa's wildlife and wild landscapes that attract her - she's been captivated by its people too and always tries to visit local communities to see how they live alongside the wildlife and to get a complete picture of life in the bush.

Sue co-wrote Footprint's Tanzania guidebook in 2009 and has become a regular contributor to Travel Africa magazine, as well as being commissioned by various UK publications that include The Daily Telegraph, The Independent, The Independent on Sunday, The Daily and Sunday Express, CNN Traveller and Wexas' Traveller Magazine. She also writes for Vacations & Travel magazine in Australia.
